  1. £50m isn't often quoted. I think I've read that once, £200m is much more often quoted and most estimates go with a budget of anything between £200m to £800m over a period of 3 years.
  2. Not saying Trippier isn't good, but I don't know how he fits into the system I'd imagine Howe playing. He doesn't play as a fast, overlapping full back does he?
  3. Money only talks when it's more than the cost of what the selling club would lose by selling to us - I'm thinking of the cost to the likes of Burnley (Tarkowski or Mee) and Southampton (JWP) here by increasing their chance of relegation while also strenthening a relegation rival - but it also extends to the clubs at the top who won't want to help a club stay up who they'll see as a threat to their bottom line in a few years. With FFP it means it's probably not in Newcastle's best interests to pay the amount that those clubs would be asking for and using up a high percetage of the budget imo - Newcastle will be looking at daft prices like £50m+ for Tarkowski vs half that for a potentially better player at a lower cost abroad. In that scenario it's a no brainer.
  4. Honestly think any Premier League player is an absolute no go now considering how all of the clubs have reacted to the takeover. Most PL clubs will only feign interest in selling their players in order to waste our time and resources imo and Staveley and Co would be mugs to be strung along by it. I'd much rather go for quality abroad or from the Championship to completely avoid that situation.
  5. Bad results always cause people to look at the creative players with more scrutiny or call for them to be dropped, regardless of how big the gap in quality is between them and the alternative. He needs to start really, there's no real alternative.
  6. Let's be honest, both the Liverpool and Man City matches are about managing the goal difference in reality.
  7. Glenn Murray reckons it's a pen and that Maddison didn't jump into Lascelles. Worm brains.
  8. No matter how bad we are or how good they are, I always fancy us at home against Man United, especially if it's a night time game.
  9. Only saw the posts on here reacting to the penalty and my feeling was that it would be like a softer version of the pen Watford gave away last night i.e soft but naïve of Lascelles and just part of the modern game. Jesus Christ was that wrong, absolutely disgusting decision even in 2021 and especially with VAR available and doing nothing about it. Absolutely no exaggeration to say that the only correct decision there is to book Maddison.
  10. Not sure about that mind, just last game it was his cross that caused Pope to fuck up and Wilson to score. Still think he needs to be dropped or to play in a 3 though.
  11. Been thinking for a while that I was unbelievably naïve to not have realised that VAR would very quickly become a tool to protect the status quo. Not necessarily Leicester and in our match but in general.
  12. It's all well and good saying drop this player and that player because it's rarely as simple as that, but surely he has to find a way to adapt the team so that Willock and Lascelles can be dropped. Putting someone else in for Willock might mean a reshuffle and a change in system but bringing Fede in like for like should be face-slappingly obvious by now.

    Joe Willock

Totally understand if Howe's playing some sort of game to try and get the best out of him, but I've got absolutely no idea what that might be and at the moment it's definitely not working. How he was still on the pitch beyond 45 minutes let alone at the end is beyond me. Shelvey came off but put in far more work than Willock did, which says it all considering Shelvey's limitations.
  14. Souness is the bitterest bloke going where Newcastle's concerned. Flat out refuses to accept that he was an absolutely dog shit manager so instead leans on well-worn clichés about fan expectations that he knows all of the know-nothing pundits and fans around the country will lap up. Same goes for Allardyce.
  15. It doesn't help that fact checker sites aren't really reliable in terms of being trusted sources either.
  16. Something really weird about that Jiminez red card. Hopefully it's just that he's been a fucking idiot.
  17. It's an absolute stonewall penalty
  18. Also the nature of the result crushes Watford's spirit and confidence a little bit too. Nothing worse than being so close to a win and then ending up not even getting a draw.
  19. Not exactly desperate for it to be a draw like Carra. Being a win away from Watford in 17th rather than a win and a draw is still good.
  20. Brentford pen. Would also take that
  21. Draw would be ideal. Can definitely see Brentford getting dragged into it later in the season
