  1. Controversial maybe, but I think Ba is overrated among Newcastle fans. A good all-rounder, but I never thought he was as amazing as some talk about him.
  2. Excellent shout. Seen him in so many all time Newcastle XIs that also feature players who either played at the same time as or before Rob Lee or Gary Speed.
  3. Redknapp was class against Scotland tbf, agree about the rest though, it was ridiculous. Was weird as well, because I remember him calling him up and it being a big deal that he hadn't picked Cole as well. Then after that Lee never really got a proper look in.
  4. Have to say I never thought Casillas was the legend he was talked about as.
  5. It's redundant now because he ended up living up to the hype, but Ibrahimovic really was overrated up until about 2011-ish I reckon.
  6. Think I'll just drop this then log off. Cristiano Ronaldo
  7. Ah yeah, the famous 'uncharacteristic mistake from Petr Cech'
  8. Grinds my gears having to hear him analyse players and go on about workrate, determination and taking responsibility when he so often had none of that here.
  9. Every player who was getting in ahead of Rob Lee for England from '94 to '97.
  10. Not his fault either, he was really good, I really rated him and he probably would have worked in that system for England, but he's become the silver bullet that would have solved all of the problems with the Golden Generation, which is just daft.
  11. No, I was expanding on that post
  12. Hahaha, you saved me racking my brains for a few of the ones you've listed tbf. Liked Di Maria though.
  13. Oh yeah, players who get called underrated so often they end up being overrated - Carrick.
  14. I think it took me far too long to include character, leadership, and influence as part of how good a footballer someone is, instead of it being this external thing to things directly related to playing the game. Those attributes from players like Ramos or Muller for that matter that you can't really see can't be understated like, they're massive.
  15. This post was brought to you by the year 2010.
  16. Kane's also an excellent 10 when he drops deep. He doesn't look like he should be but he is.
  17. Aye, the player who's destroyed all of the best EPL teams at their peaks is overrated because he's never played against Stoke away. Always loved that one.
  18. I'm canny fascinated by those players that are all over the place with how they're rated. There's those that are deemed so over-rated for whatever reason that they end up being criminally underrated (Beckham, Henderson) Those that always get labelled as underrated but either aren't, or get called underrated so often that it's clear they aren't (Makelele, Kante) There are other categories like that as well, I just can't remember
  19. Well that's my afternoon's entertainment sorted. @Flip
  20. First ones that come to mind Lukaku - a player who's only good when played as part of a 2 is not a £293.5m (combined) player. Ederson - great 'keeper and excellent with his feet, but makes way more mistakes than his reputation would have you believe and gets away with clattering people because he's at Man City Jorginho - an absolute party pooper of a footballer. Completely boring and uninspiring. Was 3rd for the Balon D'or which is insane. Alvaro Arbeloa - the epitome of a punching above his weight footballer for me. Had an absolutely amazing career considering how much of an average shithouse he was every time I saw him. Raul - Never ever got the hype to the extent that it went to. Very good striker with a class record, but you'd have thought he was an all-time great the way the media went on when he was playing. There's another player as well, but it'll kick off a different debate that's been done to death.
  21. Aye, point being that the previous predictions were all shite.
  22. Love how everyone's 'predictions' change every week like.
  23. He was an idiot but for some reason I also really enjoyed it.
  24. I obviously don't know who we'll get, but if we go into next season with Schar and Burn as back ups that's already a gigantic step up on its own. If the centre backs we get fail or get injured or whatever, we know they've got what it takes against a lot of the league. They're also much further down the list of priorities than a striker, a RW, and a DM.
