  1. Honestly I think the rule applies to all of them. You only need to look at Ramsey to see how quickly 'failure' turns to either not talking about him or talking about how he's growing on you. Wissa will definitely get there imo, I'm more convinced about him than Elanga.

    Lewis Hall

Weird game, probably his worst in a while (but still good) but he scored.
  3. Alternative view: if he can turn an inhereted pigs ear into a silk purse, imagine what he can do with a player he's wanted for years. It's no exaggeration to say Jordan Ibe is Howe's only failure imo, he gets every benefit of the doubt.

    Dan Burn

He's a fucking class defender like. We'll feel it massively when he's gone.
  5. I lean towards thinking that outside of a few players there's no such thing as a starting XI tbh. I think he'll be playing regularly and that he'll have improved a lot though.
  6. He has until Christmas imo. I've been here far too many times with other players to write him off.
  7. Then it's an exploit of the rules that needs to change imo. I don't believe for a second that they wouldn't apply it arbitrarily depending on the team either like.
  8. Goal should have stood and everything else was also a joke. The amount of nothing fouls we had that were deemed yellows only for that little Portuguese seat sniffer to jump into Burn and get nothing man. You can add that to the immediate VAR dismissal of our goal, the complete lack of replay on the very vocal call for a hand ball (I'm not saying it was, but I'm saying I want to see at least one replay) but it went all the way down to every one of their offsides being played out to its conclusion and every one of ours being an immediate offside that stopped any chance of a conclusion, with the same linesman. As shit as always, they're absolutely fucking bent and it couldn't be more obvious.
  9. I'll back Howe on that one. He's performed bigger transformations than Elanga.

    Nick Pope

The flack he gets is ridiculous imo. The Joni Mitchell never lies of goalkeepers.
  11. That's why Howe hasn't been starting him imo. For all he's looked decent off the bench, the fundamentals that Howe demands from players aren't there yet.
  12. Plus point for me is that I think Eddie cracked the code there, but didn't quite have the individual performances to make it count.
  13. Valiant effort. Hard to be critical in the circumstances. Thought the ref was a joke. Edit for posterity: Pope: 7.5 Trippier: 7 Thiaw: 6.5 Burn: 8 Hall: 7 Tonali: 6 Ramsey: 7 Willock: 6.5 Woltemade: 6.5 Gordon: 6.5 Elanga: 5
  14. It is, but I think we're in a different phase/run of form than then too. We play Man City away when we played Wolves and it's probably a 6-1 loss
  15. Anah but in the context of Man City away with them bearing down on Arsenal, all of that alone is unusual I think.
  16. You're doing that 100% of the time when you've seen this ref tonight
  17. Ref plays advantage, Man City stop and choose a free kick. Aye no bother.
  18. This is clearly why Howe hasn't been starting Elanga like. Too many times he's failed at the basics tonight.
  19. Also an absolutely shit footballer. Another industry plant.
