The deal is up in the summer, unless they have signed an extension which hasn’t been publicly announced. I can’t see how they could continue. The whole Islam and gambling thing.

Why would they need to come to Newcastle in your scenario ? I'm with you in that I think its happening but I dont get why anyone would need to physically come here ? Publicity? Press shots? Don’t think so. Highly doubt Staveley, The Reubens or anyone from PIF will be basing their office there. I read something about them looking to employ a few directors with experience. Expect an Ian Ayre/Garry Cook type to come in and look to increase commercial revenue. Then there’ll be a director of football. Someone to bring in the names that a coach approves/deliver the strategy that the owners want. They’ll probably bring in someone new to do the Charnley work. I can’t see Staveley being the one doing the press releases, fully expect Yasir Al-Rumayyan to be the one to make the big announcements (or at least his name will be attached to them) as he’s well used to doing that with either PIF or Aramco. Don't think he was on about long term and where they are based, pretty sure he was on about a one-off photo shoot at the ground to announce the takeover I’m not sure they’ll even do that, If I recall correctly, I think City just put out a press release and I can’t remember Roman Abramovic doing anything when he bought Chelsea.

Say the deal is officially approved over the weekend, say Monday or Tuesday at the latest, the payment part will take a few days so it’s quite likely it will run into the next week. Am totally confident it’s happening now so I don’t mind the wait anymore.

Well I can confirm that the clubs staff, specifically the media team haven’t been told a thing about what’s happening or not happening.

Yep absolutely he deserves that chance. He’s my no.1 choice. I’m not totally confident it would happen though. He doesn’t break contracts. And as for Zidane, does he even speak English well? I believe his man management is actually quite decent, the only one who might disagree is Gareth Bale and he’s pretty much Michael Owen mkII as far as I’m concerned. He’s been known for bringing together a team of dysfunctional stars to win 3 champions leagues back to back. Tactically he sets up his teams to the strengths of the players he has. With Bale fit and playing well, they played 4-3-3.. when Isco came in to take his starting place they played more of a 4-4-2 diamond where Isco had the freedom to roam about. He’s a good manager but he doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

For the UK it’s the common sense thing to do. Well there’s more money riding on it so I’m not so sure if they will though. Can’t compare the situation to Germany. If I was in charge, I’d just have voided the season. Every league stays where they are for another year and then start again in August/September if allowed to. It’s the only fair thing to do.

I wonder would Caulkin take up a job with the club in terms of like a communications director or something. He knows what the supporters need to hear and fixing that disconnect with the fans is surely one of the first things the new owners need to do.

True, but he's only getting those questions so much because Staveley told him she was gonna pass the test imminently, nearly 3 weeks ago now. So he should be annoyed at her surely There is no definitive proof that Staveley is his source or that he does even have a source It's just about obvious that she is, she's done an interview for him previously. My biggest concern with Caulkin is that his source previously led him down the garden path with the BZG deal which george nicely described afterwards as 'bollocks from the start'. If a source has previously given information which turns out to be false or incorrect I would not be so quick to use any future information from them Eh? Didnt Caulkin pretty much dampen that one from day one. He was fairly consistent. Also, it's not the same source FFS. Its clear AS is confident. Whether she should be is a different story entirely. Yeah I'm not sure Staveley was involved with BZG (I was under the impression she wasn't) - but she was his source for her 1st failed attempt that played out very publicly. She is very confident, I just think some caution is required given the history of the source. He’s speaking with Staveley directly. Like he’s been in her home more than once, I’m sure they are on speaking terms without him having to harass her every second day to ease our worries. He’s correct in saying that he wasn’t on the BZG bandwagon. In fact he poured cold water on that within 2 days of the story leaking. And I think what he did say was that all he was aware of was another interested party who was trying to put something together. It’s obvious now this was Staveley who took a year to get the big guns involved. If he’s saying this week that they are still confident, it means they haven’t contacted him to tell him otherwise.

The real political pressure on the PL will be to approve the deal. Everything else is just noise and an opportunity for certain people to stand up on the soap box for a brief period. With everything else going on I just can’t see how they’ll derail it. Can anyone seriously imagine the Khashoggi widow (I know they weren’t actually married) chaining herself outside SJP and going on hunger strike when the new PL season eventually starts?

So were BZG looking to emulate what happened at Sunderland? As in buying us based on income from the tv revenue?
