  1. Nothing could be further from my mind, like. The world has always worked on dodgy football feeds and there's only ever the occasional sacrificial lamb in the form of some fucker selling the equipment to get connected.
  2. Richard Keys is just jealous that our proposed new chairman is a bloke who looks like Richard Keys (but a happy, successful, and content with his place in the world, version of Richard Keys rather than the real version who got peddled from a dream job for being a sex pest and no longer looks that way)
  3. Yeah, heard that on R4 early this morning and was going to post it but didn't want to start another argument about charm offensives
  4. Time and a half for reading letters about Saudi Arabia's human rights record from addresses in Manchester and Liverpool
  5. Good advice. Is there any way to just get notified of significant updates? Wait until the thread title changes to something conclusive
  6. Fifa are proper paragons of virtue like, that's a concerning development
  7. I'm a nice bloke but I don't deserve to be anywhere near Newcastle United on that basis like
  8. Dalai Lama press conference at 15:00 UK time tho. Trying to get the thoughts of Ban Ki Moon as well, I think, before they go any further
  9. I can't believe that people are stressing about these letters influencing the decision, like. "Dear Sirs We write in respect of the Fit and Proper owner and chairman tests which we've been undertaking prior to your proposed takeover of Newcastle United. While we're delighted to inform you that you have passed the tests, we have unfortunately received a couple of moany letters from entirely unrelated third parties which do not approve of this deal and as such we regret to inform you that we are not in a position to authorise this takeover. Thank you for your interest in the Premier League. Yours sincerely The Premier League" I get that there's an argument which says the investors themselves might be spooked at the amount of negative publicity, and maybe there's more concern there - but I cannot imagine that Saudi Arabian investors aren't aware of the level of opprobrium that this was 100% going to attact from some quarters.
  10. Yeah, it looks like we will be losing quite a few people from the football section if this takeover goes through. Chat is the superior section anyway. I predict that Chat will not remain safe from the fallout tbh
  11. Actually I'm not 100% on the government not intervening, I just read that on here
  12. this forum man. Depths of despair when somebody on twitter says that some NGO that nobody's heard of is having its say to the heights of elation when in two hours somebody else will point out that it doesn't matter. The FA have already fucked off Amnesty bloody International, and the government have already said they won't intervene. The Saudis know they're not flavour of the month in the west and are unlikely to be surprised at any of the negative stuff coming up, surely not enough to think, 'hang on, we've totally misjudged what folk thought of us, we'd best get out of this'. Might happen, might not. People have to stop getting so faint every time something appears on twitter, though, or they might not make it to the end of the saga to find out
  13. Fish N Chips Balti Kebab Chips Fried Breakfast Kung Po Shawarma Chipotle Burrito Egg Sarnie Curry N Chips Sweet n Sour Chicken Bacon? injured, currently being treated in a Karrimor paddling pool
  14. I feel like Saudi investment cuts will still represent more of an investment than certain other owners I could name
  15. I reckon we'll find out this morning that Keys' mystery Other Bidder is Donald Trump
  16. Nah not yet, the ghost of Princess Diana has wrote a letter to the Premier League now.
  17. I don't think it's Newcastle, like. This would have happened to anybody that was going to be bought out in this manner. Norwich would have got exactly the same grief, so would Sunderland, so would Liverpool, so would PSG. We just notice it more because.. well, because we're Newcastle fans at the centre of it I'm pretty sure that a lot of us would be dishing out the same sort of "ah, but you've got it at the price of your very souls" vitriol if it was another club that was getting bought. Ultimately I agree that a good proportion of it is motivated by jealousy at what might be rather than genuine political interest and concern, though.
  18. I'm not sure this forum will make it to the end of April tbh, needs to be done quicker
  19. How is there supposed to be another bid on the table when it appears to be widely accepted that a multimillion pound deposit has already been agreed and paid like?
  20. I'm not that arsed about football fwiends like, have to be honest. Being everybody's second favourite set of third rate underachievers has not scratched any itches for me.
