I didn't go to the game but I spent the day in town and my conclusion was exactly what I expected; there were hundreds and hundreds of dodgy middle east outfits but they were being worn by people who obviously aren't giving a lot of thought to political or human rights issues, and I personally didn't feel embarrassed for or by them one bit

I understand they can't get a new manager in overnight and they've got decisions to make on DoF but there would have been (almost) zero grief if Jones was standing there instead. Beyond me why they didn't just bullet the hopeless fucker at the outset

My shout for money no object planning is to level everything between St James Boulevard and Pink Lane/Clayton Street and Neville Street/Westgate. I mean, it's a shame for the Tyne Theatre and that, but I mean, I know it's not going to happen but that's the bit of town I reckon everyone would miss least (other than, y'know, people who live and work there ) There's literally nowhere to put anything except between the arena and Forth Banks, really. Or Manors, maybe.

I wouldn't have thought they could just howk up Leazes Park though

I'm nearly sure we'll see a new name for a sponsored ground and on that basis I've made my peace with the idea of them building somewhere else (in the city centre, though). I proper love St James and probably would rather they stuck with 52k though, in all honesty

But classy as fuck, and unsullied

I'm lucky enough to work with and have the opportunity to speak to literally almost every part of society (and often about football, with the most unlikely people). This is 100% the case in my experience - the prevailing and strongly held views on this forum are not, by and large, held more widely. Other than on the merits of Steve Bruce, that one is pretty universal with people who are interested in NUFC

the only place in the world you still hear that bloody song

I think I actually prefer it as the bit of music at the end of the (absolutely magnificent) film tbh, but I'd be gutted if they ever removed it at St. James'
