  1. Was supremely confident we would beat Brentford; certain we will lose tonight. There is no science to a football fan’s pre-match feelings, and it doesn’t really amount to all that much anyway.

    Sunderland

If Sunderland fans organised a picket line of our stadium because of Yemen, I would, even given the transparency of the act, support and refuse to cross it. But they won't. Because they don't actually care.
  3. The thing about Sam is, he's used to it. Sam will be fine, following his sleepless night.
  4. At the point where I'm wanting any result that puts Everton deeper in bother, tbh- even if it does have some vague impact on us.
  5. If only there were some profession dedicated to investigating things.
  6. What result is best for us?
  7. The problem is...what's the difference between wanting to force Ashley out and just getting tired of how shit it was. Being perfectly honest I gave up my ticket because I was just bored of the entire thing. It was nothing more noble than that, but if a season ticket rested on it of course I would claim otherwise.
  8. Somebody mentioned that game in 2004. Unless I'm wrong, that was the game which we sang 'If the Russian goes to prison, you'll be fucked.' So I am really not sure why football journalists are now telling us football fans about dirty money like we did not already know. I truly used to fantasise about this happening to Chelsea- the whole thing was just so massively unfair. Of course now any joy is undercut by the unease over our own ownership. Still, though. Funny.
  9. I can’t believe that he used to be smart and funny either
  10. I remember that game at Sheffield United when shelvey scored that stupid goal that should have obviously never been allowed but which would probably be in my top fifty Newcastle goals. Now last night, which was ace. Any other Thursday domestic games I’m forgetting?
  11. The first and truly only time I was certain we were down.
  12. Wolves score, just in case you're not following it on our official website.
  13. Although, then I suppose the issue might be that if tickets are a fiver/tenner for early league cup games, many will see it as an easy loyalty point even if they have no intention of going. So in effect we may deny non-season ticket holders getting into cup games too... Oh, what tangled webs...
  14. Fans don't get to choose owners. If we had forced Ashley out we were still not in a position to elect the next owner.
  15. That's a hell of a reach, tbh.
  16. I know what you mean. However, I live abroad and keep a season ticket so I can use it easily whenever I am back to get into games. When I am not using it I give it to family or sell it on here for below face value. I have been outisde of the North East since 2005, and the only time I didn't do this was the 2019-2020 season. That was the year Ashley gave away ten thousand tickets. I won't blame anybody who took him up on that- obviously- but, when I consider that I ended up paying 120 quid to get into the Palace, Everton and Leicester games that Christmas (agg: 2-5), I don't feel especially bad about ensuring I can still get into games whenever I can.
  17. Points for home cup games too.
  18. When will the renewal period start?

    Sunderland

It's always hilarious when Sunderland lose, but honestly given our own trajectory now I almost want them in the play-offs, actually I wouldn't mind them going up. Seeing them struggle in the championship next year would be fun, add another juicy little narrative which is bound to be an exciting season. Essentially now, Sunderland are what I have always pretended they are- a diverting irrelevance. This in contrast to how their previous fuck ups at promotion have easily represented the highlight of our own season.
  20. Thought Tripper handled the Bruno stuff well, it was a bit snide and unprofessional of the co-host to act like he was lying about being aware of him. Trippier pointing out that he has played football abroad and in Europe was a nice rejoinder without looking arrogant.
