I thought Everton were pretty good at doubling up on our wingers. Also Gordon on Bruno clearly worked too in blocking us in the middle and stopping Willock or Joelinton making 1-2 runs playing off him. Really needed a rethink in approach but it never happened.
-
First half was obviously better but I'd be hard pressed to say we dominated. In general the game was scrappy and tense and we failed to turn their nervous energy back on themselves in any sustained way.

Appalling game management from start to finish. Got it totally wrong.

How can there only be "seconds to go" when Begovic has wasted nearly 3 straight minutes from goal kicks?

Utter shit from Burn again

Godfrey back for them is a big bonus but Coleman, Keane and Holgate are all terrible -
Sancho has been such a poor signing

The "delighted Ashley has gone, but uncomfortable with Saudi ownership" thread

No problem in terms of Saudi-UK relationship for now. But I suppose the PL could revoke PIF's directorship at any time if they ever radically overhauled their owners test? -

Would be absolutely hilarious if they go down but unfortunately I think they'll just scrape by to stay up. 1-1. -
A win and copying one of their late second half faux injury drink breaks pls
-
Everton's defensive line lol. Unbelievably shit, just getting spun in behind every time.
-
Poor performance tbh, especially the second half. Their whole gameplan is about the ultra width from Lamptey and Cucurella and we never got to grips with it - very lucky to win.
-
Awful performance this despite the two goals
-
Apart from the fact they play on totally different sides of the pitch?
-
At present the working relationship between Saudi Arabia and the West is such that there's no basis for a "crackdown". But as we've seen, geopolitics is volatile and that could all change in the future. By all accounts PIF and co. want to be here long term (20 plus years), but whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen. The fact we are owned by a sovereign wealth fund does mean we need to be aware of this. Don't get too attached to anything basically.

Even ignoring the total tactical ignorance of it he did it so early. Grant came on in the 77th minute lol. How can you possibly see out 15 minutes or more in that sort of system
-
Has he done that 4-2-4 thing again he used to do here when desperate? No surprise they're wide open State of the Hawthorns. Bloke is like a joy vampire
-
Apparently he turned down Harry Winks and van de Beek in Jan, both of whom were keen on moves - mad when you think they're now relying on Adam Forshaw. Do think he'd have turned it around with returning Phillips/Bamford though.
-
Looked like we changed from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1, him and Shelvey as the two, Joelinton on the right and Willock central.
-
Personally think the old Bielsa method would've clicked with Phillips and Bamford back - but sticking is probably just as risky as twisting at this point.
-
It's actually beggars belief how bad they are defensively - individually a lot of their players are really poor (old Championship remnants and new signings alike, particularly Firpo who is horrendous) but the Bielsa system used to cover for them because they were so unified at pressing together high up the pitch. Leeds will be tempted to make a change surely just to halt the freefall although I'm not convinced any other manager will have any luck trying to change this really idiosyncratically tailored Bielsa squad.
-
Individually their players aren't very good barring Philips and Bamford, both of whom are missing. Bielsa values the system more than the individual but it's come badly unstuck this season. Not sure anyone else could do much better with what they've got in fairness. He'll walk away at the end of the season regardless.
