Unless we have a new manager lined up, sacking Bruce isn't likely to change the results. Jones or any caretaker won't be able to turn this lot around in the space of a few weeks, most of them look like they need a full pre-season's training.

Not sure this is true at all. I think the last few games have been a clear indication that Bruce has lost the dressing room.

A dressing room he’s never really had a grip out. Countless reports of in-house fighting and moles.

He’s also clearly going to get sacked. How much effort will he be putting in now? He’ll be an even less of a motivational guru than he already is.

Sacking Bruce would bring an immediate lift and would give us more chance of winning games rather than if he was here. If Jones can’t produce anything, fine. We’ll be bringing someone else in anyway.

But we wouldn’t be any worse off than keeping Bruce.

They have a right to expect that, mind. If I'm offered a new job as Restaurant Manager, I want to know they have a fucking kitchen.

We have a kitchen, but it’s currently on fire.

The Restaurant Manager’s job will be easier the quicker someone puts it out.

Notice in his press conference today he said "I decided to stay here". Wonder if that means that NUFC have contacted him about coming back?

I read somewhere not long after the takeover happened (can’t remember where) that suggested this had happened.

  4. Of our top 10, would be a stretch to say only three have been a success? Shearer, Wijnaldum and Wilson?

Wilson being a perma-crock makes it difficult to say it’s been a complete success.

  5. This absolute helmet is nowhere near Pardew’s levels btw. That smarmy cunt would’ve won yesterday. Yesterday is one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen live and that’s no exaggeration.

Considering the positivity around the club yesterday and the possibility of riding a wave against a really poor Tottenham side, yet serving up that absolute shit.

To completely misread the game as much as he did throughout was impressive.

Can’t remember the last time I watched a team try and defend a 3-1 defeat. Didn’t put any pressure on the ball, try and get any foot in or anything. Tottenham were at walking pace during injury time (and for the entire match) but after we’d just scabbed a goal and had every chance of pushing forward it was bizarre.

Took our only striker off and left one on the bench. Bringing Shelvey on when we were getting overrun in midfield was criminal.

  6. Doesn’t help it seemed the entire game plan was to lump long balls up to him. Presumably just because he’s tall.

During the warm up, he looked like a solid player. He even hit a ball with power behind it. Put him in the match and he looks a complete donkey.

I’m going to reserve total judgement until we have a proper manager in. Longstaff, Hayden, Lascelles, Manquillo... they all looked like competent PL players under Rafa. Under Bruce they barely look Championship standard.

First big test of their ownership, Bruce has to go this week, he can’t be allowed to continue wether they have a replacement ready or not.

If he doesn’t go today, that’ll be their second mistake, after not sacking him last week.

Three points down already on what we should have, we can’t afford to keep losing these.

"Yeah New Manager has done well, but I tell you what... Steve Bruce needs to take a lot of credit for building the foundations."

“Steve stabilised Newcastle and kept them up during a turbulent period. He did a great job under difficult circumstances.”

I really think most fans went to the game to celebrate today, probably didn't want to sour the atmosphere by protest chants....until they were almost forced into it by the sheer ineptitude on display.

Agree on the stadium being full of the Ashley generation, but that's because the hardcore fans either got priced out or gave up their season tickets in protest.

Maybe so, but doesn’t explain why the stadium was pretty much near silent from five minutes onward, despite us leading at that point.

Not helped by the god awful tactics and football on display, but still really poor.

It can only get better from here!

Must agree apart from the pre match and the first 10 mins it’s was classic Ashley years . The game means nothing when a fellow fan was in trouble , I couldn’t tell from my seat but fingers crossed.

Game went as expected but means nowt in truth compared to that fans struggle.

It was close to us and did not look good at all. Really pleased to hear they are now stable and appearing to be on the road to recovery.

  11. Dreadful experience really.

The pre-match and first five minutes were class. Loudest roar I’ve heard at SJP for years.

After that, it was typically shit. Chants for Bruce out non-existent until the final 10 minutes and could hear a pin drop for the majority. Stadium full of an Ashley generation.

Hopefully the individual in the East Stand will be okay. It was recognisably a dreadful incident a few moments before the crowd managed to get the game stopped. Fair play to all involved though (including the players, specifically Eric Dier) who summoned help very quickly.
