Not to doubt the coaching staff but a seventh game feels a bit unnecessary. I get he's trying to get them into the shape of their lives in order to do the high intensity thing this season, but I hope they're not going to be actually knackered.

We won’t have many going to the WC will we?   Plus the lack of European matches, we’ll play a lot less games than most we’re competing with.

Also assuming we’ll limp out of the cups as we always do

Fwiw i still think Wood will score more goals if we improve our service to him. I don't think he is a complete write off yet.

To be fair, it’s not going to be much of a challenge to beat his total of two last season.

Will be a complete fail if he’s anywhere near the pitch. Another striker is vital this window.

Have West Brom started their preseason yet? :bluestar:

A defeat to Stevenage, draw with Crewe and wins against Northampton and Leyton Orient.

Proper pre-season against proper British beef. None of these fancy forrin friendlies.

He's a young lad who gets to move to a CL club, stay in his home country at a young age, live in Paris and play alongside Messi, Naymar and Mbappe every day. I can certainly see why he took that option like.

Completely agree - but several on here are desperate to convince themselves it was his agent/Reims/anyone else stopping him from coming.

Agree 100% from the players perspective but really weird that his parent club would take a chance on him going out on loan for a year with an 'option' to buy if we had bid strong money to buy him.

Goes to show the strength of his feelings for PSG rather than us, imo.

Reims would’ve been much better off with our deal but they’ve clearly stood by him and let him have the move he wanted.

There's nothing wrong with being annoyed by the fact that him and his agent let us spend significant amounts of time trying to get him to agree to move here this summer. If they hadn't wasted our time, we could have spent that time moving for another first choice forward target, possibly already signed and bedding in to the squad.

Some of the shit people are coming out with is another matter entirely though

He turned us down in January, it’s probably not that surprising that he didn’t want to be here. More our own fault for chasing him all this time.

    Decent windows (so far):

    - Villa

    - Spurs

    - Arsenal

    - City

    - Brentford

    - Forest

We're a key injury or two away from 'just getting by' imo. Would like to think some holes could be filled before the end of the window so as to make us set our stall out from the get go.

    Worrying.

How old is this lad ?

    Is it a parody ?

Is he just trying his best ?

    Is it harmless ?

My immediate instinct is to hate him but I just can't.

He’s clearly quite far down the spectrum, it’s not easy to hate him on that basis.

From the few small clips i've seen of him he looks to be releasing the ball more so far, loving some of his reverse passing. If that becomes a consistent trend he could really move to the next level, him dragging his full back out of position and then playing a reverse ball into the runner that's filled the gap would cause teams all kind of trouble.

It was noticeable in the latter part of last season too. His execution was just not very good at times. He’s clearly getting decent coaching and being told what he needs to do to improve, hope he builds on it.

He's good enough to be in the squad right now tbh, the only reason to loan him out is so he gets regular football rather than sitting on our bench. Would be better to ship Murphy out on loan tbh.

I’d give him a year at a Championship team where he’d have quite decent assurances of playing regularly.

His only first team football so far has been half a season in League Two, he’d benefit from playing a full season at a better level.

Sitting on our bench won’t develop him at all.

The problem with SAFC fans in general is, they had been revelling in the takeover failing for over a year and then overnight, they had to cope with the rug being pulled from beneath their feet, and the exact opposite of what they knew to be true all of a sudden becoming real. That's where the 'think of the children' faux outrage sprang from.

Their copium? "haha they're jealous of US being proper fans!", "Imagine supporting a murderous regime", "Look at her, she ugly lol", "It's not going like they planned!!" "Burnley players? where's Mbappe??" JLaws spending the day pulling stats out his arse. Skellington and Beats Bears crywanking their days away wishing PIF had bought Internazionale instead.

More specifically, the problem with exile is - this was his entire life, and now...well, he's fucked. Look at his response, on a daily basis - a shattered, broken man with only one purpose, to make right what he got so wrong. But at least he gets to crack one out over the older, plumper ladies when he's done.

Here's the reality - SAFC don't matter anymore, and haven't for about 5 years now. Winning a 3rd division play-off against (?) meant nowt to no-one. No-one is jealous, your position in the league is not a concern, so crack on.

As a PS, I'll put this in here for any mackem floating by. The disgraceful casual racism of 'camel' this and 'camel' that, "head choppers" etc. Can you stop doing it? After all, we know you're the 'classy supporters' of the NE right?

    Mag.

  12. Another player who has gone from a promising youngster to pissed up murderer because he did not sign. At least Botman was just slower than Saturn’s orbit when that deal looked in doubt.

And Eriksen, and Tielemans. That creative midfield position definitely seems to be one that we are after if those links were correct.

I don’t think it’s necessarily about us specifically chasing a creative midfielder, I just think we’re open to any player who is available and improve us.

Eriksen and Tielemans fit both of that criteria. An improvement and readily available.

The hatred and bile is something else on there mind - just had a look and it seems to go up about 100 pages a week!

How any of our lot can be arsed posting on when you don't even have a debate - it's just "bloody money / Saudi United / owners are murderers / kill Yemen kids / have sex with with 12 year olds" blah blah etc is beyond me! I always laugh when I see posts stating that they would walk away from supporting them if they had our owners! Piss off man! Human rights has only been an issue on there since October 7th 2021!

I've got a lot of red and white mates with living in Hebburn (I was actually best man for one at the SOS dressed in red and white - the shit-house!) and 99% of them are nothing like the posters on there!

I would’ve thought they saw that as a positive.

Weakening your rivals is a valid strategy as well TBH, it’s possible we’ll be in the same group of teams as Everton.

We won’t be fighting relegation next season.

Would feel to me a sideways move for Tielemans, though. He’s 3 years ahead of Bruno in his Premier League career. He’s done his yards playing in the 5th-8th placed zone. He’s good enough for a top 4 club now, he doesn’t need to be part of the journey of us getting there over the next few years.

Thought the whole reason he was leaving Leicester in the first place was because he wanted consistent CL football?

Wondered why Paul Scholes is trending, and it's because someone on Love Island sucked Michael Owen's daughter's toes.

After seeing her outfit/dancing yesterday, I can understand anyone wanting to do anything they possibly could to her.

I’d happily listen to Michael talk shit over a Sunday roast if I knew I was able to buck into the back of his daughter that evening.
