  1. This is royally going to kick off, isn’t it? Didn’t quite understand the magnitude yesterday.
  2. I just don’t see any way this would work. It would have to be the main competition for the teams entering it, as they’d make their own domestic leagues untenable. If you were going to do a UEFA Nations sort of thing, which involved 10 teams from each of Spain, Italy, England and Germany split into two or three leagues, maybe it would have legs.
  3. The BBC’s article says: ”None of the clubs involved have commented yet but it is thought a statement is likely to be released later on Sunday.”
  4. I’m still not sure how Tottenham or Arsenal can be considered good enough for this Arsenal have been dogshit for years and Tottenham have won fuck all. You could argue Leicester should be ahead of both of them.
  5. I don’t understand how they don’t realise the novelty will wear off. A very limited number of clubs playing against each other, over and over again. As others have mentioned, the best thing about football is when an underdog goes on a bizarre run. It’ll never happen.
  6. It’s just an unbelievably shit idea on all accounts. It’s hilarious Arsenal are joining it. They’ve not been a top club for 10 years. May as well let Notts Forest join.
  7. One of the crazy bastards is tipping Chris Wilder as the next manager
  8. If they fuck it up this year, I think it’d be the funniest one so far Mad that Derby, Sheff Wed, Wigan, Bolton, Portsmouth, Ipswich, Charlton & the mackems could all be League One teams next year. It’d be one of the stronger League Ones for a while, if they all avoid being crackpot teams.
  9. Definitely. They’ve lost Antonio and Rice recently and would have struggled to keep the pace without Lingard.
  10. The big 6 aren’t the issue and people overestimate the impact of any resistance they put up to the takeover.
  11. 100% we’ll have downed tools now we think we’re safe. A West Ham team playing great attacking football against our defence = 4-2 defeat.
  12. I thought it was reported the best case for NUFC is to have an agreement without needing to actually go to arbitration. Maybe we’re attempting to cause enough of a nuisance and legal cost to the PL until they’re willing to just sit down and sort it.
  13. He’s actually a really shit journalist, isn’t he?
  14. IIRC, there was a planned call between Boris and MBS at the time which was full of speculation that MBS would bring up NUFC. His tweet was basically just referring to that, pretending he knew what went on.
  15. Depends on which parts of the woodwork imo. If it hits the woodwork and bounces off the line or hits the keeper or something, yeah - it’s unlucky. If it his the woodwork and comes straight back out or goes out of play, it’s not unlucky and is just an inaccurate shot.
  16. Maybe they’ve got it cheap at £5m because of the agreement to take on the club shop at an additional price? Selling the shop back to the club and leasing to Castore would make sense as a holding deal while the takeover is ongoing. £5m + the club shop with Castore is possibly a better deal than £6.5m and no club shop with Puma. Also with the pandemic, I’m not sure many clubs will be increasing their sponsorship income any time soon. Will be intrigued to see if other clubs negotiate better deals. I don’t think it’s a sign the takeover is imminent. But if it was a clause of the takeover that MA relinquishes the club shop, it’s another less ‘barrier’ to overcome further down the line.
  17. Maybe a potential relegation was a big sticking point. After the win at the weekend we’ve had positive noise from both Jacobs and this. Hopefully things will really start moving at pace now.
  18. Leicester have a cup semi before that game too. Could easily see WBA getting something there. Wolves and Arsenal the next two after that for WBA Both very winnable games.
  19. That’s the best case scenario for NUFC, apparently.
