It’s mental really but I Was massively underwhelmed by Howe at first but the more I have read and heard about him over the last few days the more I have liked him , now I love the fucker and genuinely think he is going to do something special here . He is the perfect fit and I am genuinely glad Unai turned us down.

If Sunderland were in the Championship and had appointed Eddie Howe I would have said "meh" - kind of appointment I would expect us to make. They wouldn’t want Howe managing them apparently

Current day Benitez is nowhere near the top 5 or 6 managers in the league mind.

People forget Jones is a coach and not a manager , 2 points from them three games isn’t a bad return really regardless of how poor we played .

Think of all them great Man United players that made shit manager”s but kept getting jobs because of who they were , that’s what Lampard is.

Couldn’t get Derby promoted with the likes of Mason Mount on loan, sacked at Chelsea when they were struggling in the league ,they have since massively improved ,won the champions league and are now top of the league, great player but a shite manager .

Can honestly see Lampard being the next Bruce in a few years time , good player but shite manager that keeps getting jobs based on reputation.

Lampard , if ever a case of a player getting jobs due to reputation it’s him.

Was about 6 or 7 thinking we would get a good manager in but now after appointing Howe I am 10.

Mcclaren actually had a better CV than Howe when we appointed him to be fair.

I will get behind him but for me it’s such an underwhelming appointment , just feels like another Mcclaren / Bruce /Pardew type appointment , thought them days were supposed to be over . I think a half decent manager could have attracted some half decent players in January and we would have stayed up but I am 100% confident we will relegated under Howe, hopefully I am wrong but I just can’t see how we stay up under him.

I think appointing Howe confirms relegation this season , was always going to be hard to stay up due to the mess we are in but I thought if we got a half decent manager in we had a chance, especially as he would be able to attract better players in January. I think Howe kills that and lessens us being able to attract some good players in January.

Said this since day one , he’s the best realistic candidate we could get , he would be mad to turn us down to stay at Brighton aswel.

Need to go all out for Graham Potter , nobody can tell me he wouldn’t leave Brighton for Newcastle.

I think for me it’s not even the fact that Howe just isn’t a very good manager , it’s more the fact that this is the type of appointment we would have made under Ashley and we were supposed to have left all that behind and be more ambitious now. I never expected us to go out and get Conte but Eddie Howe ffs, it makes me wonder the level of player we will be after in January if this is the best we can do manager wise.

Think people forget that Eddie got relegated with a better team than what we have now , we would have no chance of staying up in our current position if we appoint him as manager .

Eddie Howe now 4/6, I don’t think I would have been happy with him even if Ashley was still here .

Excellent appointment if its Unai, 4x Europa league winner, think he did well at Arsenal and was harshly sacked, not as if they have got any better since lego Pep took over either.

Its funny how they have literally become the plucky little lower league underdog desperate to draw a big team in the cup.

Pretty sure Xavi turned Barca down a few years ago as they were a bit of a mess even then , can’t see why he would think they are any better now . Any half decent manager would be mad to go to them at the minute and they can’t pay much anyway so that rules out Ten Hag. I think they will end up with Martinez which is good news for us.
