Bruno has been a yard slower than usual tonight.
-
The least shocking thing about How's press conference is him saying he wants everyone he's asked about to stay. Could've put money on it.

"We can't afford Kalvin Philips £6M loan fee" 3 days later... "Newcastle sign Forrest star Morgan Gibbs-White on a 6yr deal for £65M"
-
Yes there is a magical money source actually. Its advertising and sponsorship. Theres also players like Longstaff/Anderson/Miley who if they don't fulfill their full potential could also be sold for a good profit. Anderson for example could easily go this summer if we bring in 2/3 better midfielders, same could be said for Longstaff arguably.
-
I think everything that has happened in the last 3/4 days is proof that we don't have to do that at all. Whether we will or not is another matter.

Where are all the rat snitching pilots and airport workers when you need them.
-
Would be silly if so, atleast from a business stand point. SD probably one of the largest (if not the largest) sports retailer in UK, the money we'd get from them IMO outweighs any pettiness needed to be shown toward Ashley.
-
West Ham can have him for £20M, the reaction on his podcast would be something to behold. Chelsea though can fuck right off, they can pay £30M or go swivel on a traffic cone.

THE REBUILD BEGINS. Evolution is out the window. The Revolution is underway.
-
Same goes for Derby and Blackburn.

We all think the Tripper/Almiron transfer is going to pay for a special new £50M midfielder. Maybe its just paying for this guy......
-
It's another of those situations whereby hes obviously not worth £80M, that would be insane. But to Forrest, he kind of is worth that because what he provides to the team would probably need to be replaced (within their budget) by two players. Also if they do get a points deduction AND they've let MGW, chances are they are doomed for relegation. I'd be shocked if we get him but £50M is probably the number I'd personally say would be worth paying for him. Similar money to Gordon, similar potential but he's arguably proved it more than Gordon had before he left Everton.
-
Europe has been the best part about this season though.
-
MGW is a great player and I'd be happy to see him here. But he's certainly not a like for like Miggy replacement. Nor is he a Joelinton replacement. Feels more similar to Tonali in the way he plays.
-
You'd hope so. As well as potentially getting Haydens wages off our hands this January if we're lucky.
-
I would imagine Miggy wouldn't be leaving unless we had a player lined up. It's not like he's out of contract in the summer, he could've gone then instead but we must need the cash to allow someone/or two to come in this window.
-
Obviously there's something afoot here. We've clearly got eyes on making a couple of signings this window. Miggy would be a massive miss for our pressing game if nothing else.
-
Obviously if we get more for him than we paid then it's clealeg a good deal. But he's such an integral part of the team and we're so short on fit players right now it's a big risk for sure. All depends if the money is then spent wisely. Would be a shame to see him go as I personally would've loved to see him finish his career here but these things don't always go how you'd like.
-
Not saying we CANT, I'm saying we shouldn't. The position we're in now with injuries is exactly why you need depth in the squad. It's far too expensive to replace 6 squad players whilst also upgrading on the players who are current first teamers (Miggy, Schar, Burn). So that would be 9 signings minimum, needed in the summer. We seemingly cant even afford one signing right now and those players listed are worth fuck all so we can't bank any meaningful cash from them to make up for their loss.
-
Not necessarily, he's not had a chance yet, so we don't know if Howe does trust him or not. He was sent on loan before we lost Tonali and 3 other midfielders.
-
We can't replace all of those though, so it would ridiculous to let them all leave. Some are out of contract in summer anyway. Longstaff isn't going anywhere while Howe is here, unless we get a crazy offer in for him and that's not going to happen.
-
I know he's only young (relatively) but £35M seems simultaneously absolutely crazy money and also a good deal, considering what's been paid for midfielders in the last 12 months. The fact he's not yet gotten a full international cap is no surprise nor a mark against him given the depth Brazil have there. I doubt we'll sign anyone this window but if we do this lad seems like he'd be a good one and definitely in a position were desperately lacking.
-
Can't see Hayden coming back into the sqaud. Would seem pointless. Joe White is back and will help fill the bench.
-
Howe obviously shouldn't be sacked or ever leave BUT these things do happen and it could easily happen this season if it goes terribly wrong. If that case arises I'd be okay with Mourhino coming in.
-
Seems pointless bringing Philips in on loan now if the club don't actually want him permanently in the summer. Better off waiting and bringing in the player they actually want. Our season is destined to wither and die a slow death anyway as it stands, so let's hit reset and go again in the summer.
