I think it would be a massive mistake to not look to make 2 or 3 key signings especially when other clubs around us are. Some players are only willing to come if playing in the champions league which we could potentially offer them right now even if we don’t finish in those positions we’ve still attained that player. Ae been said prior the value it has when it comes to sponsorships and FFP would be ridiculous. I do fear though that other clubs around us are making improvements and serious moves where as we seem to be standing still. An improvement is an improvement be that a first team player or bench player to replace the likes of Murphy, lascelles, wood etc

This proves outside of our 11 the players aren’t good enough.

Was hoping we’d be bringing in a top coaching team for the 21s/23s. Possibly a top coach from Brighton etc with them doing very well regards to player and youth development. Guess we will see in the near future.

With regards to Diaby definitely he’s the type of signing that right now comes in to compete for a starting position. Obviously Almiron is in the form of his life but he’s also 28- 29 next month not exactly a top asset. ASM seems to be pretty injury prone with niggles here and there. Bring in Diaby a top target we’ve had get him in just now competing for a place and hopefully after a month or so he’s dislodged one of the 2 if not he will by the summer and he’s an improvement to the squad and bench options.

100% no point making small upgrades in a key position, on the same note though we will need to keep longstaff around for next few seasons until we get some home grown players through for European competition rules.

This. Only thing holding us back is squad depth if we want to compete with the top clubs we need to improve not only our starting 11 but our 12-18 too. Move on the dead wood, bring in a few top prospects from Europe and a couple top players to come in and improve the squad.

Seems like we are moving fast after missing out on perrone. So much better this window having multiple players lined up compared to last January scrambling to see who’d actually come to us.

I wonder what we will do regarding the keeper situation. Pope is at 30. Karius not going to be a 1st choice neither are the rest. Should we start looking at Bayern model of buying them relatively youngish give them a year experience then bring into the fold or sit on the bench ?

Ah fair enough he’s our new head of youth recruitment. However he definitely will have all the info he knows most likely all the players in the academy set up. He was Leeds national youth scouting manager and city’s UK northern youth scouting manager. Anyways hopefully it’s another step in the right direction.
