  1. If the intention is to go bigger than 60,000 or so and sell out for all league, cup and European games then it needs people coming from outside the north east and a city centre location makes that easier. And anywhere else and the public transport becomes a big issue.
  2. His age and profile (doesn’t score many goals) mean he’s not going for 15m in the PL. he’d want decent money and a 4 year deal, it wouldn’t work financially for the buyer. To move in the PL you’d have to accept 5m

If they won’t sell him at the offer price he might take a bit extra money for a year and an agreed release clause for next summer. Palace get another year and reduce risk of him leaving for nothing in two years. It’s a consolation prize for him However I think everyone wants the transfer to go through now.
  4. I’d take Mbeumo, but if he was the target I’d imagine they’d have gone for him already, would seem bizarre to wait until mid August to bid
  5. 3.5m left on the books seems about right. He was signed in 2019 for 21m on a 5 and a half year deal then signed a new contract in 2023 for 3.5 years So by the time he signed his new contract his 21m fee had amortised 15m, (21/5.5 x4) leaving 6m on the books. Hes 18 months into that new deal, so that’ll be down to a rough 3.5m Btw that also makes him, in PSR terms very cheap

How do you know he has refused? There’s only been rumours of interest, may never have been a concrete bid

They should brief out it’s Guehi or nothing and they’ll pay any price, that’ll show palace
  8. A) As he doesn’t fit the managers style and Lavia is back. B) he’s pure PSR profit That makes sense in financial and tactical grounds
  9. Nobody getting red flags that Chelsea have signed a replacement and are bouncing him out after a year? And he’s displayed a dodgy attitude on the pitch? Why are Chelsea so keen to get him out their 11 and then out their squad?
  10. That’s the short term approach but the club has to always look at the longer term due to (sorry) PSR. Miggy is decent, he is a 8-12th in the PL RW. He’s not shite, and given spending is constrained a slight upgrade isn’t worth it, as anyone signed for the first 11 has to be capable of holding their own in the CL. otherwise after 1-2 years there’s a problem as the budgets don’t allow replacing players after 2 years. A new RW will be on a 5 year deal and very hard to shift if they flop or are no longer good enough Every big money buy has been someone who the club can get potentially a decade out of for that reason. The only cheap deals done are squad backups
  11. I don’t think it’s cover, it’s more that Almiron cuts inside, which any left fitted RW would do. The cover comes from BDB staying back so Schar can come over and the incredible work ethic of longstaff
  12. A lot of the data dweebs were also saying Minteh looks like the real deal. But he’s gone! Someone had to go and it was him and Anderson, and that’s done. It’s frustrating but it was them or Isak or Bruno or Gordon realistically.
  13. Sadly I reckon he may have just been seeing family as he wasn’t required for the weekend, but has to show at training today. He is a decent player who wants to leave with a club interested in buying him, so I hope he goes and there’s a small fee, let’s not have the piss taken. My guess is Southampton are trying to get him for nothing or on a loan with a wage contribution. Hope Nufc don’t blink first
  14. Not really true. There were areas last season were lack of depth was an issue: LB/LCB - remember Dummetts cameos? Kelly now in to sort GK - lack of depth was an issue here too, two new GKs in Striker - Only two on the books and one has longstanding injury troubles, now a 3rd striker keen to improve and make an impact The first 11 has not changed (yet!) but squad depth has.
  15. I think the money men in the club will have said you can’t carry 3 RWs. Especially with an overstock of GKs and 3 players already in exile. Miggy is decent, if Trippier/Tino do well and Tonali delivers then Miggy could well have another 22/23 season. Yeah his decision making will still be rage inducing but he works hard and follows team instructions well. I’ve accepted it for the next season. Some have mentioned the contracts, but really the crazy one is Murphy signed until 2027, given a 6 year deal in 2021 based on pretty limited contribution on the pitch.

Zonal marking is one of those tacticians dreams that never ever works in practise (sorry Rafa)
  17. Am sure the corporate/ premium offerings are going to get a revamp in due course. Including the prices… I remember when the new stands opened the corporate offering was relatively premium, and stuff like 1892 club actually seemed to have a bit more to them. Like everything else under Ashley it looks like it was just done on the cheap for a decade I seem to remember the catering contract being outsourced under Ashley, I wonder if that will be / has been brought in house again to allow improvements

I look forward to the meltdown when Guehi signs and Howe starts BDB at LB all year for extra height

Looking back at results, excepting Man City away scored against the top 5 in all the PL games, which is incredible really The issue was conceding so easily. As the special one once said, to win stuff you have to defend.

There’s probably about 50,000 reasons to sign for Chelsea over anyone else, every time And every young player believes they can break into the first team
  21. For regular games most season ticket holders already have their own routine and their favoured pre/post match places, be different this weekend.

Your point is fair, however Palace are still talking and once they’ve seen the second bid at 50m they’ll know 65m is a pipe dream, so given they’re still negotiating I reckon they’ll take less. Ultimately they’ll know they might only get 30m next year, and then they’re after a replacement with only 24m. And if he had an injury or a bad season then they might get even less. Maybe talks break down, but if it happens I reckon it’s 55 max, with maybe some add ons like CL qualification that don’t compromise its affordability
  23. Spurs will never do a fair deal, there’s a much better working relationship with Chelsea
  24. Wilson was bought and given a salary with his injury record well known. His injury record will have been reflected is his transfer fee and his wages right from the start, so he isn’t ’part Time’. He's paid for goals and over the course of a season on that he delivers

The 65m figure is being put about by Palace to set price expectations. It’s the maximum not the minimum. A 50m bid is probably close to what the nufcr hierarchy think his max value is, so Palace might get a slightly higher offer and some add ons but at that point it will be up to them whether they want to cash in or not. Pretty clear there’ll not be a new contract so do Palace take the cash now or run the risk of him running it down.
