That’s a percentages ball into the box. Sort of thing I expect from Edward’s, as if he does stay a new contract with a release clause at about 55-60m suits both player and Palace so is pretty likely. The player doubles or trebles his salary and has an exit price clubs he wants to join will pay Club protect their asset, the extra salary is worth it as with one year left on a contract bids would start at 30m. I can do the same trick, my understanding is Isak gets a new contract offer in January

The club have been working to fix this for two years, and since the first window, which was in a crisis scenario, they’ve brought in essentially a whole team under 25 (at time of signing) and moved on/released older players. outfield players over 30 are not being offered long term deals, the club prefer short extensions, so anyone over 30 is always kept at most with two years left on their contract. That long list of players over 30 with one year left is a deliberate squad choice not an issue to fix. Over time the squad age will drop, but I’d imagine there’ll always be 5 or so 30+ players on short term deals, players who bring experience or cover, like Burn or are goalkeepers

The problem with these scenarios is they assume other clubs and players will go along with it. Madueke appears to be in Chelsea’s plans, there’s no indication Chelsea would sell or that the player would agree to come. Same with Chiesa chat, would he have agreed to join a team not in the CL? Perhaps not.

I’d start Tonali but acknowledge he’s not going to play 90mins. I’d give him the first half though to get the matchday routine

You had to go back to 2008! It is fairly standard practise that if a player is near to leaving they don’t play, especially in cup games against lower league opponents. Guehi may still join but it is a pisstake.

Im pretty staggered they think its going to happen give Guehi just played 90mins in the first round of a cup game. To me it looks like Palace are not budging.

He is missing out by not moving. If he’s on a 65m fee his wage is going to be big. By staying at CP he probably misses out on millions and millions.

With Isak there’s probably more chance he goes if NUFC finish 4th, as he’s probably hit 25+ PL goals and someone like Barca may then make him their top target. Same with Bruno, if he drives a team into the CL again he’ll be even higher rated. If it’s a 9th place finish everyone stays as they’ve been shite, so be careful what you wish for and enjoy the football instead of this panicking

The absolute last thing a new sporting director would want is a slump where they have to remove the manager and get a new one in. Massive disruption and a fair chance the new manager goes wrong. Look at Chelsea as one example. If you move jobs do you hope your colleagues are all shite so you can sack them and hire new people?
