  1. Better game, Wales just can't seem to get the final delivery in. USA are getting progressively worse though. And the ref is crap. Guess anything can still happen.
  2. Christ this is shit... first footie I've seen today and this is the drivel that gets beefed up?!
  3. If Southgate decides to be a bit more bold and not rely on previous tactics, I'm sure we'll win this. 2-0 England. (Not ruling out another embarrassment though!) USA v Wales - The Welsh will be fired up for it but I just don't know if the USA are more of a cohesive unit these days? 1-1 draw?
  4. I have a strong feeling that this will be unbelievably shit, but I'll go for a 1-0 Ecuador win. Senegal v Netherlands... much better prospect. Senegal will be used to the conditions more than the Dutch but is it enough? 2-1 Netherlands.
  5. Wolves v Gillingham Southampton v Lincoln Blackburn v Nottingham Forest Newcastle v Bournemouth Man City v Liverpool Man United v Burnley MK Dons v Leicester Charlton v Brighton
  6. I'm based in Hampshire, so getting to go to this one! ? On current form, I don't see any reason why we can't win this. Still a bit hard-wired to expect disaster, but that's gradually fading away. If we can go into the WC break on 30 points, that'll be amazing. (It already is amazing, of course.) Saints 0:2 NUFC
  7. A year ago, we would be fearing a defeat. A win would be welcomed to the extent that it would either ease our fears of relegation or at least give us some hope of climbing out of the bottom three (usually followed by a string of bad results). Now, I don't find myself 'expecting' to win, but we've earned the right to some degree of optimism. If we pick up points, it strengthens what is already a strong position. If we lose... (reminder; just the once so far, and unfairly) we become more determined for the next game. We've only just begun this era. I'm not expecting anything concrete. But if we keep playing like we do and maintain that self-belief, then whatever will happen will happen. If you're lucky enough to see the game, sit back and enjoy it without fear! I think we're more than capable of a win today, as long as we put aside the noise and distractions from others around us.

For me, the really exciting thing is that the pieces of the entire jigsaw are coming together. It's not just Eddie. It's not just the players. Although both of these are improving week by week, it's also the other foundational aspects. Dan Ashworth, Darren Eales, the coaching and medical staff... everyone seems to know what they're doing and are singing from the same hymn sheet. Listen to the soundbites we now get frequently and contrast that to what came before - either deafening silence or cringing embarrassment. No one can deny that the communications have been improved beyond measure. This season (and maybe even the next) was always going to be slightly transitional in so far as a) we're probably not going to actually win anything but... b) holy shit, we might!... even if it's some form of European qualification. But Rome wasn't built in a day and if we truly have dreams of becoming a club with sustained success, then we need to sit tight for a while and maintain our own important role in all this; keep supporting the team. Which is especially easy for us compared to before, now that we see the ever-expanding returns. And let the other clubs / "experts" speak of money, unfair advantages, moving to bloody London etc. It's the same with any up and coming team. There's always an unhinged reaction before the inevitable acceptance. It's just noise to me. So yes, talk of being 7th for now. But get ready for another conversation entirely in a few years.
  9. I think we've got this one. We're at home and starting to string results together. We could end up with 30 points before the WC break... let's go for it!
  10. I'm in Saudi Arabia right now, and I'm literally looking at this sort of thing. Although domestically, households could do better with energy.
  11. Yep, I was apparently looking at an out of date table on the Beeb. ?
  12. The rewards for us winning there are significant. It would put us 5 points ahead of the scouse mob for a start. And 2 points off a top 4 place. Fuck, I can barely believe I just got to type that. We've got a chance, we're much more of a threat than we were at N17 last season.
  13. Actually the radio just went off citing some contractual bollocks. Great.
  14. Abroad at the moment, forced to listen to radio. Howay the Toon!
  15. I'm actually off to Saudi Arabia tomorrow. Maybe if I wear a toon top, I'll get business class thrown in?
  16. .... but given time, I'm sure I can milk these suckers for their last pennies, as I've done time and again. Now where's that kebab?
  17. Yeah, I typed it all as it was going out live, like a stenographer who found himself in hell. As was mentioned, I could have tried typing it before the game and been somewhere close. So glad he's not here anymore.
  18. Summary of post match interview from the fat one: Disappointed Didn’t deserve Huge frustration First 15 cost us badly If I knew the answer to that…(or anything tbf...) Didn’t find the final bit Always difficult against Preston Results gone against us We can take it forward Still convinced but been unfortunate Results count Not good enough for WBA We should be in or around the play offs We get ready to go again tomorrow For other people to decide Can’t focus on that at all Never give in - not easy Given the rub of the green we’ll turn it around Cue clueless pundits saying he deserves more time, fans need to be patient etc Rinse and repeat, keep the cash rolling in. Well y'knoooow.
