Dan Ashworth (no longer working for Manchester United)
Keegans Export replied to Rich's topic in Football
It's strange, he's simultaneously the best in the business, his immediate unavailability a source of great frustration to the minority owner...and only worth about £2m? Schrodinger's Technical Director... -
Next season starts on 1st July from FFP perspective so will cover 24/25, 23/24 and 22/23 - the first Jan was the 21/22 season

More than we'd get for most of our squad players. That Amorim guy has a release clause of about £12m apparently. -
Inside info or from elsewhere?
-
I think its more that it won't be done in time to have a substantial impact on our summer activity which will have been planned well in advance. That's not to say they'd just have the new guy sat in an office twiddling his thumbs all summer...

I really have no idea about the strengths, weaknesses or relative CVs of any of them but I do trust us to make the right appointment. Which is a pleasant feeling compared to the majority of my time supporting NUFC.

I think that's the campaign slogan for the next election. Just that and a picture of Starmer going -

Poor Sir Jim, having his dirty laundry aired in public while he maintains a stoic, quiet dignity throughout -
I disagree. That group of midfielders finished 4th last season and has a very good chance of finishing 6th this season, despite missing two key players for extended periods (in Joelinton and Willock). Plus we've added a player that has proven himself at both International and Champions League level.
-
Man City win FA Cup 5th & 6th = Europa League 7th = Conference League Man Utd win FA Cup (and finish 6th) 5th = Europa League (6th = Man Utd/Europa League) 7th = Conference League Man Utd win FA Cup (and finish 7th) 5th = Europa League 6th = Conference League (7th = Man Utd/Europa League) Man Utd win FA Cup (and finish 8th or lower) 5th = Europa League 6th = Conference League 7th = No European qualification (8th+ = Man Utd/Europa League) That's right isn't it? On the assumption that England doesn't get the extra CL place.
-
So there's no qualifying round, just straight into a group of 6?

Basically means that we can "lose" £105m/3 years (current system) plus about £80m (estimate) from selling Bruno. That £80m to spend isn't on the transfer fee, it's the transfer fee split over the length of the contract, up to five years. So if we signed someone for £50m on 5-year contract it would only "cost" £10m/year plus wages. Added complication is that they're potentially changing the £105m/3yr thing anyway....
-
I never suggested moving for the atmosphere. But you knew that of course
-
Obviously you can't possibly know that with 100% certainty, although it wasn't the point I was making. There are lots of reasons to stay at SJP but protecting the "atmosphere" isn't one of them. We have great occasions at times absolutely but those are few and far between unfortunately. Is there a ground in the country that has an atmosphere better than 10, 15 or 20 years ago? New stadium or not?

Been said before but absolutely no chance whatsoever Northumbria Police allow that

I've never been 100% on the Sesko rumours. Not because I don't think he's any good, I just think if we're going to sign a forward it'll probably be someone more flexible across the front three rather than an out-and-out CF which I think Sesko is? He could be on the list of signings we'd make if we ended up getting £100m for Bruno and wanted to bring in 5 or 6 players rather than 2 or 3.
-
There are lots of good reasons to stay at SJP but can we not pretend there isn't a 140+ page thread about Match Atmosphere, the majority of which is critical in tone?
-
He's only been there a year or two hasn't he?

Alexander Isak - Nominated for Player of the Season
Keegans Export replied to Disco's topic in Football
Hasn't Isak got four years left on his contract? I also think the transfer clause in Bruno's contract will make us even more reluctant to let any other big hitters go. What if we sell Isak for £100m, then at the last minute Real Madrid come along and activate Bruno's clause? I wouldn't blame Arsenal (or anyone else) for asking the question but I think for what we'd want they'd look elsewhere for £20-50m less (Toney, Osimhen etc) -
The homegrown number isn't the problem, we've got a decent number of UK-trained players in the squad, it's the club-developed number that's a problem (if we get into Europe)

I think if you offered most fans the chance to stay at St James' Park, they'd take it, but they fall into three categories - stay as we are, stay but expand the Gallowgate/East Stand, stay but rebuild a new stadium on the same site. How many of those "remain at St James' Park" would vote that way if the feasibility study said; 1. No expansion is possible 2. Small expansion of the Gallowgate is possible 3. Expansion of both Gallowgate and East Stand is possible 4. Complete rebuild of the stadium is possible If it was 4, I'd say stay at SJP. If it was 3 I'd be undecided. If it was 1 or 2 I'd lean towards moving, but that depends on where we'd move to. Basically, the Trust is massively oversimplifying the question, possibly due to their own personal preferences.

Bruno went 11 games, Martinez barely managed 11 minutes!
