  1. Because none of the other teams have been playing as well?
  2. It doesn't even need to be a long teem contract, just a six monther. Loads of out of work decent managers would take that on.
  3. At this point in time, any manager who is prepared to play positive football and pick the best players. Doesn't need to be a big name, just someone who is willing to have a go. Southgate shoehoening his favourites into a park the bus game is clearly not working. We don't need to find the next Howe or Ferguson, we just need a change. Desperately.
  4. I couldn't give a shit about the player's smiles. Newcastle got to fifth in spite of Pardew. Should we have given him more time after that?
  5. It isn't too late to sack Southgate. An undercooked squad at the WC taking risks is better than the guaranteed dross we will get under this clown.
  6. Spot on mate. Britain has a 'Brave loser' mentality. We need to get away from this and be a bit more cutthroat. We need to have a 'Get 'em down and kick 'em whilst their down and keep kicking them' mentality and instill that fight into the players. As a said a few weeks ago, I'd be happier in a team of winners than I would in a team of pals.
  7. This all smells like when we got to fifth in spite of Pardew's terrible decisions and then were awful the next season. The only two differences are: 1. Southgate is likable whereas Pardew is an absolute snake. 2. We don't care as much about England as we do about our clubs to shout loudly about it.
  8. So. At what stage are we allowed to criticise Southgate's all round cluelessness without getting shouted down for doing so?
  9. I can confirm that both of those opinions are unpopular. Mainly because they fly in the face of the evidence on display. Speed was solid and reliable. Given was probably the best keeper in the PL over the whole period he was at the club. Was in the top 2 or 3 every season he was here.
  10. I agree with all of the last few posts. I think Southgate is both likeable and honourable and he's genuinely trying his best for the team, and that he's tactically clueless and too blindly loyal to his favourites, even when it isn't working. Lovely bloke, dreadful manager.
  11. Can't wait for Fun88 to be fucked off at the end of next season. Hopefully we'll get someone other than a betting parasite on our kits.
  12. I thought it was implied that 10m don't have large savings, otherwise it would be a non-issue.
  13. In fairness, cash isn't a great thing to have hanging around in large amounts. The vast majority of my assets are not cash, since inflation is much higher than interest at the minute. Although I agree with you that £500 is nowt. All it takes is a boiler or car failure and you're left up poo creek. I wonder what the solution is. Partly living wage, partly education that you should have an emergency reserve. Partly society valuing fiscal security again rather than conspicuous consumption, even when people can't afford it.
  14. Nathan Ake would be a phenomenal signing for us. Proper physical defender - him and Burn in the middle with Trippier guarding the quicker players would be brilliant, nothing would get past them. Only problem is that City still rate Ake and want him to stay on their bench. I can't see it happening unless Ake forces the move unfortunately.
  15. Great signing. For every Bruno doing magic, you need a Targett doing the steady stuff. Massive fan of these 'glue' type players that hold the team together, especially ones who are a proven fit. Great news.
  16. It's not his job to individually coach the players on the fundamentals or assure their conditioning, but it is his job to ensure that there is a pool of players that can fit into his systems. That requires time for any prospective players in his training and matchday squads to look at how they fit in and if they can be melded into what he needs for the next game. I don't think it's as simple as picking the best player for each position in a formation, rather more about developing a system first (loosely based on the talent available) and then integrating players into it.
  17. Fair enough. I'll rephrase. Some people (me included) think it's a crock of shite. If you like it, then I'm assuming you like weird things like lager top, Vauxhall cars and wearing Firetrap clothing. Each to their own, you massive weirdos.
  18. I think we all agree that the Nations League is an absolute crock of shite and literally no one gives a shit. We also agree that the International players are all knackered and will be knackered leading into the new season and then into WC22. Why not pitch the NL as a 2nd XI competition, where countries enter their 'A' teams? Would be a good chance to blood youngsters and to give players who ordinarily wouldn't get to play International football a chance to pull on their national shirt. Would then generate interest from fans of those players' clubs, rather than the mass apathy of seeing the same old players who bore us for the 1st XIs turning out more dross in games of no consequence.
  19. Jesus. The way he just brushes over the fact that he left the club in such a state that it took heroics from Eddie to keep us up. It's as though he thinks no one watched what happened and he can just tell us a new 'truth'. Not only is he a managerial fraud, but an absolute liar too. Gutless sack of shit with zero moral compass.
  20. I'd be devastated about that. There's a massive gulf between club and international currently and Southgate is a proven failure at club level. Yes, he'd wear a nice suit and say nice things, but I wouldn't want to see a harmonious squad of shite players relegated whilst playing heartless, boring, naive football.
  21. Not sure I buy that. I'd take Gazza doing a dentist chair celebration on the pitch over this boring shite any day.
  22. I think the England squad is mostly pure shite. I'm not sure if Southgate is performing miracles with overrated flops, or it's his fault for refusing to nurture talent beyond his favourites. Ultimately, my attitude to the national team currently is apathy. Probably because of the boring shite on display. That is definitely Southgate's fault.
  23. Our need for a top half PL striker is priority number one. Ekitike is a fantastic talent, but not the answer for next year. He's the answer (and a great one) for a couple of years time. Our GK is decent. Our defence is OK (if we sign Targett). Our midfield sort of functions (in spite of our weak wingers). Yes, there is lots to do, but a proven CF is still priority one.
  24. Just seen a pic of her. Proper pram face. Like a sex doll thats been hosed down with creosote.
