Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
JumpersForGoalposts replied to BeloEmre's topic in Football
Free yourself from the ingrained pessimism of the Ashley era. No longer are we constrained to a squad consisting of 11 super average 'purples' backed up by a mish mash of contract misfits and failed youngsters. We are now allowed to buy more than one player per position. Ekitike will likely be an excellent player, but at 19 can't be relied on to lead the line right away. Wilson is good, but is injured at least 50% of the time, so we need a new 1st choice striker. Ideally around 30 years of age and proven PL quality so they can help rear Ekitike into being their successor after they've fired us into to Europe. -

He isn't anywhere good enough, even for third choice. I assume Ekitike will end up as 3rd choice behind Wilson and a marquee CF signing. -

Unfortunately, players (like everything else in life) are only worth what they are worth, irrespective of what you paid for them. With Wood, it's likely a £12.5m loss for the club. In isolation, that's a failure in the market but in the context of alongside Trippier, Bruno and Targett and survival, overall, writing him off is not the end of the world. -

Yes, but Wood is a full time target man. He has no suitability for any other position. At least Joelinton was clearly playing out of position up front and has found his niche in midfield. Wood seems like a lovely bloke, but he's about as much use as an ash tray on a motorbike to the club right now. Many thanks for your efforts, please enjoy the memories of a special seaon and the many thousands of pounds in wages you've been paid. I hope you find the right club at the right level, but it isn't this one. So long and thanks for all the, erm, something... -

Not really, no. Too one dimensional and easy to counter by sitting deep with two banks of four. I think if they had a proper 9, they'd be out of sight rather than struggling in key games. -

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than see us play a midfielder or winger up front. We need to replace Wood with a proper 9. As it stands, only Wilson is a 9 who is able to play at PL level. We need to buy two more 9s as our top priority. -
I know we're a million miles away from them, but remember how much the m*ckems loved the SoS when it was first built. And think about how terribly it has aged and how shit the location is. They pine for Roker Park now. SJP is in prime location and has a soul about it that no new stadium could have. We must never lose that. Extend, wharever it takes.

I was genuinely terrified that under the FCB we'd end up with Gerrard as our manager. If that happened, I'd be permanently out rather than just in hibernation as a fan like I was until the FCB fucked off. Gerrard is my all time least favourite footballer, and the way he is going on at Villa has done nothing to improve my opinion of him. Karma for those 'Sob on the Tyne' bedsheets that the Villa fans have to put up with that apococunt as their manager.

Don't agree there at all. Man Utd's fax machine breaking down was fantastic news for Real.
-
Get in!!!
-
I agree with that, mind. Of all of the fans in England, m*ckems included, Liverpool fans are always the worst.
-
We need to get away from 'the fans' being seen as a single collective body. No doubt there are some Liverpool fans there who have tickets and aren't acting like complete arseholes who are suffering because of the actions of other ticketless bell ends. Seriously punish those who cause dangerous situations to occur and don't let them hide as part of 'the fans' and become victims.

Also, Toney would want to be the main striker. He isn't good enough to be the main man for a team with ambitions of breaking into Europe in the next couple of years. Solid target man and is/will continue to be the main striker for a PL team, but Brentford is his perfect level.

Too much gravy for me liek.

Absolute crock of shit Klopp winning it. He's taken the 2nd best squad to 2nd in the league. Howe has taken a squad from 19th to 11th. If Real beat the scousers in the CL final, the award looks even worse - well done for winning the League Cup. Not that it should even matter. Klopp is a darling though, with his scampish laugh. He was always going to win it.
-
I'm a big fan of his. I can see him being brilliant next to a cultured centre back like Colo or Woodgate. Hopefully we get one in the summer and it really brings BDB on.
-
It's so frustrating that he has the raw materials to be a good winger, but just hasn't learnt the stuff that can be coached, like how to put away a 2 vs 1 overlap or what balls to put in and when. The blokes been here 5 years, and he still can't do things that you'd expect school boys to do. Such a shame, because he has the things you can't teach and a great personality, but there comes a time when you have to accept that he just isn't going to develop into a PL level player. Massive waste, and I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't think he ever will at PL level.

Burnley vs. Newcastle United: 22/05/22 @ 4pm (No UK TV)

I think you are a better man than I, and I commend you for it. I'm just a bitter old man desperate for a bit of schadenfreude. -

Massively depends on the Everton situation. If Burnley can send them down, I hope we roll over. If not, a nice end of season blow out would be just lovely to finish off what has been a most enjoyable year. -

Haven't we won more end of season dead rubbers than expected for the last few years? That Tottenham game under Rafa sticks out for me. -
Seems like a really likeable bloke, but hasn't developed one bit since we bought him. Zero end product and a bit pointless having him on the pitch. Unfortunately, not even good enough to be a top half PL squad backup backup. Bit of a tricky one, if he has a significant amount of time left on his contract, as I doubt any PL club would be interested in matching what we're paying him. Loan away with wage contribution?

Eddie Howe, and they couldn't afford him.

Pics of your gravy stains or no sell.

Steve Harper Aaron Hughes Shola Ameobi James Milner Mike Williamson (Set penis master 2012/13) Paul Dummett Not saying they were class, but better than most remember IMO.

I think you'll find we were all being ruthlessly realistic when we said you are where you naturally belong.
