  1. Yep, I think so too - a new ground with extensive corporate areas. SJP doesn't have the footprint to extend this.
  2. Can't believe for a second that they'd willingly spend a couple of hundred million on a temporary stadium for a couple of years so that they can retain the same postal address, mind.
  3. Jesus wept. Football sold its soul years ago. I used to get very, very angry at this stuff. All this in the poorest region of Great Britain. A lot of this is down to FFP. All FFP seems to do is ensure that the ludicrously wealthy don't have to spend as much money on their vanity projects - the plebs just end up paying more.
  4. Couldn't agree more. Never liked the lopsided SJP, and the atmosphere is harmed by it.
  5. Yep, we got over 100k signatures to move, while the ‘Friends of Leazes Park’ lot were in Sunderland collecting signatures. Not sure when some of the patter about not being able to leave SJP started. I wouldn’t ever want to see the club go to an out-of-city stadium, but I don’t remember many getting misty-eyed in 1996 about moving - it was exciting. A new ground would help us smash FFP and would represent a bright new start. I also don’t see the PIF getting the international money brigade in to watch matches at a refurbed SJP. There’s only so much you can do there. The ground doesn’t have the ability to cater to mass corporate ticketing. We’ll move in the medium term, would be my bet.
  6. I’m all for campaigns for reasonable pricing - but wasn’t twenty’s plenty the FSF? It should be supporters unions and trusts pushing those initiatives
  7. Not sure WF need to get involved at all tbh
  8. Option 3 for me. SJP was always a pain in the arse to get to from most of the city’s watering holes - it’s not as ‘central’ as is often made out. The Arena site makes access to Central Station easier, and is easier to get to and from most of the pubs. And it would redevelop that entire area.
  9. Yep, I wonder why the club has even asked the question to the support - pretty much no-one they’ve asked would be able to afford the premium seating that will be coming. It’s not for us - it’s for the super rich coming to watch a super successful side.
  10. Tbf it’s not easily done, and I also wouldn’t want to see it done. There are other options available.
  11. The Silverlink isn’t even in Newcastle, and being in Newcastle should be the minimum requirement
  12. Most UK newspapers make profits - the broadsheets do. Some of the tabloids have started recording losses - The Sun loses a lot of money these days

    Nick Pope

That’s a shitter as I do think Pope is much better than Dubravka - but Dubravka is hardly a shite keeper, he’s a decent PL one. I also think we were likely to go for a new no 1 either this summer or next. Wonder if this will expedite it.
  14. And let’s be honest, there’s no greater humiliation than that. That ‘Sunderland til I die’ documentary is still one of my favourite comedies, but watching the sad cases on that taking them playing our kids and stiffs seriously was better than Del Boy falling through the bar.
  15. While this squad is of far greater character, the NUFC team of the early- to mid-10s had plenty of quality footballers who looked like they didn’t get it at all when it came to derby games. Again, I don’t think this applies to the current side, whose work rate & commitment is beyond question.
  16. Yeah, that’s true - though I don’t think Kalvin Phillips would be directly covering for Tonali; he’d be allowing Bruno to be rotated or pushed forward
  17. Yeah, fair enough. I think what drives me crackers is it being used in isolation, with you on that
  18. It’s the ones who are non-stop furious that I love best. Aneurysm levels of stress and anger because they can’t accept the relative statuses of the two clubs
  19. It drives me a bit mad with just how fucking stupid ‘xG’ is. Completely pointless and a qualitative not quantitative stat
  20. Considering he’s an ex-Mackem, he does tend to be positive when talking about NUFC
  21. You know, with any other set of supporters I’d say you’re right . With that lot - they’ve always tried to pin the ‘delusional’ tag on us, but never was an adjective more apt for that lot
  22. Honestly, sometimes I can’t tell if it’s joking or not. I suspect this person is serious … (edit: also, six in a row is very much their thing, but it can’t be ‘and counting’, given the last game finished 1-1)
  23. The usual suspects wanting to see our best players getting injured deliberately, while failing to realise what that says about them
  24. And flying the Yemeni flag, because they just don’t understand anything about owt
