I’m also surprised how high some have Barton. The lad had a huge heart, but he was a painfully mediocre FB who stood out like a sore thumb when he played in a good side. Considering he was a British record for a defender, he always struck me as a waste of money by Keegan (who I think signed him because he seemed to have a knack of scoring vs us - KK wasn’t exactly a big one for scouting).

I’ve never bought the (sometimes childish) waffle about the referees favouring the Sky Six etc. I also never thought VAR was a good idea. But what it has done is exposed the incompetence of some of the officials - even with replays, multiple angles and slow motion they’re still making obvious errors. The standard of refereeing in England is very poor at the moment - we saw that vs Milan, when a competent European ref allowed the game to flow.
