  1. Another one of Rafa’s waste of money signings. Great coach, not so hot in the transfer market.
  2. Isak has been poor for me - though I’m more than willing to ascribe that to rustiness
  3. Eddie knaas If the gaffer thinks that the best thing for the lad’s progress is being trained at NUFC, then he’s most probably right
  4. The club really need to start getting players off the books - Ashley re-signed a lot of the current squad on stupidly long contracts for some comfortable wages. Our current wage bill has been too high vs turnover for some time - and we’ve been told since day one that the club’s books have to balance and FFP will be adhered to.
  5. Yep, League One and the SPL would therefore represent a step-up - and the lad was only making subs appearances in the A-league. Obviously the Portuguese top flight and Championship are comfortably better than what he’s played, but as we’re only talking half a season the best approach (to me) would appear to be to get the lad time and minutes in the third or fourth tier first. Bristol Rovers - like Anderson - wouldn’t be the worst shout to me.
  6. Hearts or Third Division in England would represent a real step up from the utter dirge that is the A-League. Second tier football more likely an option for next season - we want the lad playing regularly though, not convinced he’s liable to do that in the ‘Championship’. It’s worth remembering that the lad couldn’t get starts at CCM - he’s best off getting game time and getting used to the much, much quicker tempo of British football.
  7. It used to be called gamesmanship and unsporting behaviour. Yep
  8. It long predates Wenger - Wenger pulled them away from the ‘wan nil to the Arsenal’, back four calling for offside, ‘boring boring Arsenal’ of old. Arsenal are the embodiment of success through shithousing. Fucking hell, Nick Hornsby sold piles of a book which both bemoaned and revelled in Arsenal’s constant boring play and active shithousing which made them famous.
  9. Always had a soft spot for Sheff Wed. How a club that big and with that sort of history has spent more than two decades outside of the top division is unbelievable, really - they’ve still spent more years in the top flight than out of it. Playing Sheff Wed will always feel like more of a big game than playing Brighton, Palace, Bournemouth or Fulham Still want to beat them, though - and I think we win. A comfy 0-3 for me.
  10. We had to drop back and press mostly in our own half after the first 5-10 mins. Shows how astute Eddie is, and also how good they are
  11. I can absolutely see Arsenal winning the league after tonight though. That passing fluency will beat 90% of the sides in this league comfortably.
  12. Got you - Kelly Cates seemed to suggest that Edwards had said the same. That bloke who followed was a right weapon like.
  13. Just listening to BBC R5. Missed the baldy wanker’s waffle, but apparently Luke Edwards was claiming that Arsenal ‘played Newcastle off the park’ and were the ‘only team who came to play’. He’s a delightfully lovable man, isn’t he?
  14. Haha yep, the Optus feed here in Oz had the same commentator. Arteta’s histrionics were fucking hilarious - I’ve never been so relaxed as those last 20 mins under the circumstances. You could see he’d lost it, and his heedless war dance wasn’t helping his side who looked increasingly clueless
  15. Keegan’s outburst was with two games remaining. And he was right.
  16. Loved that by Eddie’s shithousing Mags. Arteta’s total fanny performance on the touch line just made it all the sweeter - he was panicking and that seemed to spread to his players. Top managers don’t fall into that trap, Mikel, you complete bellend HTL
  17. Yeah, agreed. He’s a mediocre winger - but I love him in central midfield. Bruno doesn’t look the same without Joelinton alongside him
  18. Don’t worry about that - the fact that they’d even gloat tells you how far they’ve fallen. We’re a work in progress - they’ve spunked over a billion quid since they last won the title to be this ‘good’
  19. Yep, we had a hell of a lot of dead balls, and most were floated straight at the keeper. Despite that, there were a couple of peaches that still should have resulted in a goal
  20. I’ve tried to defend Wood, but today he really pissed me off. What annoyed me wasn’t that he missed, but the manner in which he missed. Those two big chances were half-arsed attempts; put himself on the end of it but without wanting to do more than that - it was a cowardly performance for a centre forward.
