Fuck me this thread makes for some depressing reading - plenty not exactly covering themselves with glory. Wonder if many will still say that John ‘proud to be white’ Hall isn’t a racist old cunt? -
I’m not even sure what the point of you arguing over £5k pw even was, nor what point you thought it proves. £195k pw would make him comfortably our highest earner, yet thanks to PSR Man Utd can offer overinflated wages to mediocre players like him and still go out and buy more.
-
2.5% is a scaling error in my line of work. Wouldn’t be worth picking up on even for a second. You also don’t know it is ‘£195k pw’ because clubs don’t release players’ contracts nor their payslips - so not only is it pedantic, it’s no more accurate than stating £200k
-
Do you correct people when they say they’ve bought a new telly for a thousand quid by saying ‘I think you’ll find it was £999.99’?
-
FTFY. Can’t think of anything worse than ripping up the football pyramid and depriving other towns of professional football so that a handful of rich clubs can bloat their squads with pile-it-high youngsters for PSR purposes. Happily, the FL would no doubt tell any club suggesting this to fuck right off.
-
It doesn’t count towards PSR - you can invest as much as you want into an academy. Yet we’ve seen very little investment in almost five years. Odd that, given that without PSR PIF definitely would’ve spunked billions by now.
-
Hopefully he’s out there somewhere, calling Mackems cunts
-
I wouldn’t love the rules - it prevents outside investment from anyone. I don’t think PIF would chuck billions at the club for what it’s worth.
-
How many shit signings for mega bucks has Man Utd made? And how many will they be able to make this summer? There is a reason that the debt-leveraging cunts who own the club consistently pushed for the rule changes that were brought in. The rules allow the likes of Man Utd to make a great many more mistakes than the other 14 clubs. It’s disingenuous to even suggest otherwise.

Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

In all honesty if he re-signed I think it would be a matter of time before most are questioning why we need yet another water-carrier in midfield. It’s only because of Tuchel’s dull as fuck tactics that folks are banging on about him being bought back. -

Not a chance this is the case -
I was in a pub watching it, and a couple of us older lads immediately started talking about Jon Dahl Tomasson’s miss in the opening mins of the first match of the season and what that seemed to do to him
-
I’m still at a loss as to how giving the kid stick at the game helps, like. It’s always annoyed me - save it for the bar after the match.
-
‘The cup’ is the FA Cup, lads and lasses. I’ve never heard the League Cup described as that. And we’re still in the FA Cup.
-
Yep, it’s our defence which has the best players both in depth and in relative ability

Timeline: - ‘we’re going to build a super-duper training ground, with cyborg coaches capable of handling 300 different training drills and who never need to sleep, a training pitch made of 13G artificial grass because we’re throwing billions at it and we’re able to skip generations, a fully heated Olympic-size swimming pool with a wave machine for shits and giggles, and a Michelin-star restaurant in the canteen’ - ‘we’ve revised the plans to be a best-in-class PL training facility and academy to be the best it can be’ - ‘we’ve looked at the numbers, and we reckon that West Denton leisure centre would be decent with an expensive refurb, and the youth team can help in the kitchen’ - *disappears off the agenda without comment*

The concern for me is that the lad is shrinking visibly in front of us at present - I feel desperately sorry for him, but that also tells me he doesn’t have anything like an ‘elite’ mentality. He looks like he wants the ground to open and swallow him. I’d be exactly the same - because I also wouldn’t have want it takes mentally to become a top level footballer.
-
100% agreed. Some of the lads around me used to take the piss when I’d constantly defend Robert. Standard homophobic ‘joking’ accusations etc. All because the lad wasn’t running around enough for them - despite his output.

Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester City [LCSF 1st Leg] (13/01/25)

Yeah, I think his foot is ahead of Pope too - I’m not at all convinced that his positioning made any difference or that he was interfering with play -

I’m normally furiously against the idea of playing reserves in a cup tie, but I would be tempted for the second leg. Our fixture list is horrific, and the chances of a 2+ victory margin in the return leg are practically zero.
