  1. Sounds better than Hinchcliffe. Lawrenson even.

Well f*cking done sir. Its a good story - good attitude, grind through the shit and a husk of a club, get a moment like this.

    Fabian Schär

Loves an Albert-esque getting in on the act. Atop the usual defensive display and leadership skills. I thought he was £5m. £2.5m!!! Incredible business by Rafa. Galling to think Bruce would have probably sold him for the same again given the chance.
  4. Means it been a good night. I often find that condition after such games. Kinda fuzzy and a bit dehydrated feeling. Cant be off too much singing this time cos wasn't there. Just overload. Not even enjoying absorbing the content anymore but can't stop.
  5. Chuffed for everyone. Some great stories and obviously a first CL night for many. Another European night into the folklore. That's whatever so we've that and being competitive in the bank already to build on. No idea how I coped pre Ashley if the nerves for games these days are anything to go by. Was fully expecting a Barcelona-esque finish there. Not the time, but something needs done about music man. If you have to play something immediately does it have to be that generic and uncreative? Also not the time, but were in the same position as 97/98 with two games against the least threatening team ahead.
  6. Its been for worse for hooligans for years in France. Still full on proper hooligans like Holland not just the odd dickhead like here. and PSG have been particularly volatile as long as I can remember even though they were getting piffling gates - that whole boulogne boys thing.
  7. PSG fans are like that most places home and abroad but we've got wankers for sure.

    Match Atmosphere

Its definitely not your memory. Spanish commentary describes it as "tremenda aura' (or whatever) tremendous ambience/atmosphere. Only Man United 95/96 was definitely better. But that might have been better than any atmosphere ever in England - it was something else. I'll forever wonder what one of those early chances going in would have sounded like.
  9. Word might get around but I definitely wouldn't expect it. Thats basically what happened with Antwerp and Bilbao. Turned into trying to outdo the others hospitality. But the amount of them and the actual hooliganistic element in France that is underestimated here, makes it forlorn I reckon. Dortmund would be the best bet by far for that experience.
  10. Only way I could cope with that is if it goes 3-0 3-1 4-1 4-2 Was me birthday a few days back, glad I saved some of the hard stuff, nerves been jangling all day.
  11. Yep. Spirit of Antwerp and Bilbao is what makes me proud to be a football fan. Not the neavau hooligan/Brit on holiday shite.

Reminds me of the sparklers display they put on for the new Scottish/Newcastle breweries sponsorship in the Leazes End against Notts County in 90/91.

So they're just going to make one of those for every European away game we have since there's a 99.9% chance it'll be somewhere the mackems have never played? People seem to know who is behind it, do they not get the Milan thing because they weren't around back then or something?

First heard that word at a match in 1989, just one bloke saying it after one of their players had shot into the stand. Just sounded like one of those terms of abuse or a new swear word like 'wanker' we were just learning about at that age (9-10). Looked at me mam next to me and the stern look on her face and slight head shake read 'out of order/dont even think about it'. Was all the education I needed. Testament to the societal changes, in football certainly, that never heard the word much less chants again at a match for 10years where there was no excuse of ignorance/different times for the prick I sat near after borrowing a mates ticket for a one-off. Both on the Gallowgate by chance.
  15. He's been thrown straight in unlike Bruno. Give him at least the same time. Rob Lee, Gary Speed amd Anthony Gordon were written off with more games under their belts. Do wonder though if he's more the sort of player to come into an established point of the project rather than when were in the process of establishing ourselves, a bit of gloss on the finished product rather than to get us there.
  16. I was a bit too but its made me think that often changes are like the cavalry and too late, provoked on many occasions by being behind or time running out and this preempts that or at least the criticism that it was left too late.

So he never watched their league cup final against City and their biggest game other than against NUFC in generations? or even the highlights? Fair play if true, which it obviously isn't
  18. The clean-sheetedness has slowly but surely returned.

    Tino Livramento

Genuinely thought 'Pistone' a few times tonight. Based only on Pistone's debut I hastened to add.

    Tino Livramento

A beauty of a night like this was to test out such things, in hindsight even preferably against someone like City where you get battle-tested. There'll be no qualms seeing him in starting XI's in PL or CL based on that which is a lush bonus, though Eddie and team probably already fully knew this.
  21. Just glad that three wins in a week, no goals conceded, point in Milan and a record win have eased that pressure on him that reporter was on about.

    Harvey Barnes

What a pisser. Injuries are the fly in the ointment. I'm placated but for that. Suppose this is the least vulnerable area albeit that brings fatigue into it for the others now.
  23. Trippiers captainship there is great. So aware, total pro. Management material all over him.
