WIth a scratch defence, Murphy and Longstaff were not much better than them on average. Just takes a couple purples to be under par, home advantage at a place we've had only ever had one non-bad performance at (Bruce/pandemic) things are deflatingly par for the course.

Cant see the three newly promoted teams finishing above Everton, unfortunately in Ipswich and Leicester's case
-
Palace, Everton and Southampton - one goal and no points between them in six games, keep up the bad work
-
Prized asset plundered by Ipswich for £15m. Puts the rest of them, any subsequent fees and any subsequent suitors into perspective.

Never did like the cut of his jib. He's alright on the TV from what I see except for the fact he's as boring a human being to look at as he was to watch play
-
Bonded even more with the bloke over being the victim in a tight title race of dodgy refereeing decisions towards Manchester United (also against Spurs), Ferguson being a c*nt and unfavourable fixture arrangements.
-
Like having sex with someone you're not that into that. So glad you got there in the end and that its all over, somewhat surprised you managed it and kinda with a good attitude in retrospect but no chance in hell you'd go again any time soon or watch the video of it

Aye well. More than one way to skin a cat. Decent battle testing in the circumstances Hope they go down and not just for geographical, shit fans, boring ground reasons - the boring, cheating, c*nts Captain Cavement Diaz the new Nigel Quasie
-
Had hoped wanting brutal games of football just to end and never be thought about again went out with Euro2024
-
Diaz did what Schar did, just supplemented it with a dive and foreshadowed it for a forceful push off the ball and the c*nt pretty much did nothing but admire it
-
Had Villa 99 first day of the season vibe about that so very pleased we've put the cat amongst the pigeons on that.

Only from an investment point of view can I justify this money. Theoretically we wouldn't need to waste a penny on a centre-half for 3-4years should things work out, and I suppose some of the fee is "emergency signing" money to cover the centre-back injuries at present that may as well go toward a purple who'd be good enough for where we want to be long-term. As a straight up player value, no.

Need to pull a Salako-Ginola here. Were going to pay more than he's worth or have wasted our time at this point I feel.
-
Its an utter farce. The ideal is to get young players coming through so you don't have to buy others but the temptation to sell them is so strong that academies will be cattle farms first and foremost.
-
Bored of this game already.
-
Makes you rethink that letterbocks in Viz is all from genuine correspondents.
-
Under normal non-FFP circumstances Barnes would be undoubted great signing. Not Man United money, young, very productive.
-
That's every match thread. Players were slaughtered within minutes of a game we went on to win 8-0.

Utterly despise: Liverpool, Manchester United Detest: Chelsea, Everton Between dislike and very much dislike due to messrs Levy and Arteta: Spurs and Arsenal Dislike: Wolves indifferent toward: Man City, Ipswich, Leicester, Villa (pre and post flaggate), Fulham, West Ham indifferent toward but bored of and wish they'd f*ck off: Southampton, Palace, Bournemouth kinda like if anything: Brighton, Forest, Brentford

For twitter/X accounts posting filler stuff like that is their raison d'etre, especially if employed to do it, but the raison d'etre of twitter/x is just publicising brain farts it seems to me
-
Favourite specifically Srnicek Woodgate, Albert, Vension, Schar Ginola, Batty, Bruno, Solano, Beardsley, Kelly Keegan subs: Given, Gavin Peacock, Ferdinand,Asprilla, Robert, Ben Ara, Dabizas
-
Deferring to Eddie and co on this one. They're in good credit.

Even players that didn't play often for Brazil and didn't play for top clubs at the time like Joao Paulo (Bari), Mirandinha and Luis Oliviera (though a naturalised Belgian) had that latent genius Brazil thing.

Wish I knew/could remember the game for that nuance. Could probably narrow it down easy enough, home game yeah? Boro on boxing day I think was a bit blowy. Was a weird signing because he was good for that good Swindon team under Ossie and would have been a good signing for us then, much less when we were much worse and his in the meantime having gone to a higher division. Felt quite a coup.
