If everything was equal and balanced…
-
He's going to be the first player to have two league cup winners medals for teams he was not a player for in the final.
-
I thought it was a daft decision. He did it because of the story not the game. The fact he’d not had a game for a stupid amount of time then came on and did ok. I don’t agree with him on this as it is the man of the MATCH but he’s so much better than the rest of the co commenters I’m not too bothered. Personally I’m still fuming due to Saint and Greavsie giving the man of the match to the entire Swindon team when we drew with them 0-0 in our Keegan promotion year.
-
For me this was not a penalty as they collided with each other. I think they were both to blame for the collision it was just unfortunate for Gordon that his nose took on a shoulder.
-
I don’t know. I think this is where it gets really difficult. I’m starting to lean the other direction that equal fault lies with the person who kicks the ball where an arm is. So maybe even a goal off the arm is ok. So Bruno’s against Man Utd maybe should have stood. Maybe it is only ever given for accidental handball if it’s your team that kicks the ball into the arm 😏

This makes sense.

I guess the closest analogy would be crickets spirit of the game. Just like if a fielder throws the ball back and it deflects off a bat they should not run extra runs, I don’t think a huge accidental deflection setting up a goal is in the spirit of the game. I don’t thinks its a case of punishing someone for an accident its about tying to be fair. I guess the argument against this is it’s as much of the defenders fault for kicking the ball where his arm is so why punish the person who had the ball kicked against him.
-
Yeah, both looked like accidental things that occurred on a pitch. Should a goal be disallowed? No. Should we get a penalty? No. Agreed. They got their injury time and It’s not like Gordon was faking his broken nose!
-
I’ve watched the Joelinton handball a few more times and I get why it would frustrate the Spurs fans. We got a very clear advantage from it, I’d be pissed off about it. The rules are the rules though. I think they were right to change them so accidental handball in the lead up does not automatically mean no goal. When this was the rule there were a load of really soft goals not given. You could argue for the rules to be tweaked to say that an accidental handball that gives a clear advantage to a team leading to a goal should be disallowed. I think the guy in the studio nailed it though when he said at least the rules are now clear and not open to interpretation.

True, I forgot about that one.

Agreed. The way I see it over 90 minutes we deserved the win. We had by far the better missed chances. Given that it was 1-2 at half time they were a little unlucky not to get a draw. They had the ball across the box and the header, good half chances. But we probably had the best chance for Barnes.
-
Brummie, Frog and now Leffe. Today completed the hatrick against the boards resident supporters of other teams.
-
Would be funny if he gets changed for the implying that the referees were not balanced and therefore biased. Salt in the wound like Duran.
-
Over 90 minutes we deserved to win. Given it was 1-2 at half time, Spurs will probably feel like they deserved a draw. I'm on the fence as they didn't really create any clear cut chances. The best was the cross and header towards the end. Barnes chance was as good as what they created.
-
Need to mix it up more.
-
I’d say Spurs good in first 20 minutes not giving us an inch. Then they lost their legs and we’re dominated since. I’d say 2-1 is probably about fair maybe we could have 3. Hopefully we can continue the dominate in the second and grab a quick 3rd.

that was my first guess. But maybe they see Burn as more versatile and/or give Botman the easiest way back into the team in his natural position. -

That's surprising 😉 I just felt Howe was maybe forced into that after he was declared fit. That felt like it was coming from the player side. I was just reading too much into it I guess. -

Injuries and suspensions aside how much does the illness look to have affected the Spurs team? I guess at least Son and Maddison not starting, anything else? -

I didn't expect Botman tp start. When he was declared fit to play I read that as coming from the player to put some pressure on Howe. Maybe we see the Arsenal game as more important than this one so taking a slight risk starting him to get fully up to speed is worth it. -
