We should have bought a centre back that can cover right back instead of Livramento. Also a right forward instead of Barnes.

It is the sort of group that will raise our profile massively throughout Europe if we hold our own, every team in there will be fancying their chances in the home games which is what makes it such an interesting group. Remember, it’s seen as such a difficult group because we are in there. The other teams will be gutted that we came out of the hat.

We bought 2 LW’s over the course of 2 transfer windows with the cheapest costing a reported £7 million though. If we wanted Diaby we could have gone for him instead of Barnes, who is looking like being an expensive back up to Gordon.

Most suggests a small minority don’t, which is on par with those saying he needs to be replaced. For the majority in the middle it will be how he responds to this setback and learns from it going forward. That we will find out in time.

I haven’t read through the whole thread but there are extremes on both sides. Most sane people sit in the middle ground where he rightly gets both praise for doing well and criticism when he makes mistakes. He is not infallible and time will tell if he has the ability to match where the owner’s ambitions are.

I see it the opposite way in that there are some on here who see Howe and the club above criticism, it was only a week ago people were getting laid in to for having the audacity to say the transfer window hasn’t been 10/10. As a manager he was given a huge amount of credit for the good work he has done since taking over the club; however the shambles that was the Liverpool result is on him.

There was one point in the game where he got behind the fullback in the box and it was a great opportunity to put it across the box, it was on his right foot though so by the time he stopped to bring it on to his left the moment had gone. I can understand being one footed but surely he can use the outside of his left foot if it is that dominant.

Joelinton as defensive midfielder… Gordon on the right… Trippier or Livramento left back… We should be signing players for positions and not trying to shoehorn players around to make up for ingestion in the wrong positions.

You never have the game at 1-0, even against 10 men. Certainly not against Liverpool.

He seemed to run more at him before the sending off than after. Trent is not a good defender and is prone to errors; however he was never forced in to mistakes or pressured anywhere near enough as he should be.
