Amazing result considering the team, no reason why we can’t win this.

Fucking hell?

I’m all for playing a weakened team in the cup but it also has to take in to account the opposition, if we could beat Man City here then we have a decent shot of winning the whole thing. I don’t see the logic in playing a near full strength defence against Sheffield United and likely Burnley yet put out Targett, Lascelles and Dummett against Man City. Hopefully we win but I’m less confident after seeing that line up.

I would quite like to win a trophy.

He has been given a long overdue opportunity albeit through injury and is showing what he can do, hopefully he can retain his position on his performances. The important point being he had to wait for a number of injuries to get his chance, when he should have been trusted with starts in the starting eleven before this point.

I would rest Trippier against Burnley rather than tomorrow.

We don’t need to make mass changes, we made 4 against Sheffield United so a similar sort of number keeps some consistency, then make similar changes again against Burnley. I think so too, he has better awareness on the ball and doesn’t seem to be as sloppy with his distribution.

It isn’t a must win but it is a game that should be considered as us giving points away if we don’t win it, they are better than Sheffield United but still a relegation battling team who will be down around the bottom near the end of the season.

They say it was his hand that kept the ball in play but it looks the opposite to me, that it was his hand that almost knocks it out of play before he brings it back in.

When is Joelinton due to return? I would play him wide left if he’s fit.

Whilst the upturn has only been this season and we are in the early games of that, I feel that there was almost a wiping of the slate clean with him after his interview after the Chelsea game, where he acknowledged his struggles with fitness and the tempo but was going to work hard over the summer to rectify that.

I agree that we should go with our strongest line up for this one, if we beat City then the cup is winnable. The downside is that even City’s second team will be more difficult than our game this weekend or next.

He should be close to an England call up the way he is playing.

His assists were excellent but I would rather he played against City than today, that is the big one this week.

Their manager will go after this one, they have a championship side but that doesn’t excuse them throwing the towel in. On to the City game.

Gordon has been our best player yet again, Wilson has been wasteful but you feel he will take one of these chances eventually. Also good to see us having success from dead balls as it seems we have created hardly anything from them considering the amount we usually get. They are dreadful. Another few more goals for us in this.
