  1. I would be amazed if we sign 3 defenders this window.
  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if West Ham put an offer our way for Wilson.
  3. Doku should be so much better but he is injury prone for someone his age.
  4. It is potentially both, that we have money earmarked for certain positions but didn’t expect Barnes to be available and to move for Livramento this summer. Selling ASM helps with FFP for both, plus you wouldn’t sign Barnes with ASM still here. We had the money for Tonali and was still looking at the Hungarian guy that went to Liverpool, so potentially money is still there if we can find the right player to play on the right.
  5. Roughly ASM holds a value of £5.5 million on the books (£16.5 million split over 6 years) so anything above that can be booked as pure profit this year help No with FFP, so if he was sold for £35 million it would mean £29.5 million profit on the accounts. If Barnes was bought for £40 million on a 5 year deal it would be £8 million spend this year on the books, same goes for Livramento with his lesser fee.
  6. £35 million plus £15 million in add ons, which will be easier to hit than Woods at Forest.
  7. We sell them ASM but he becomes homesick so we loan him back in January. Creative.

  9. I must admit, I have had better 45 minutes of being sportswashed.

To be fair if you take away his left foot he is one footed.
  11. Ex-Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been cleared of raping a woman and attempting to rape another. The 28-year-old was accused of attacking a 24-year-old woman at his £4m mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire in October 2020. Mr Mendy was also accused of the attempted rape of another woman, aged 29, who said he had also molested her at his home two years before. It comes after he was cleared of six rapes at an earlier trial in January. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-66201526
  12. Hendrick and Hayden have already been written off according to the accounts, so while they are still being paid a wage it doesn’t impact FFP anymore is my understanding.
  13. Johnson and Diaby play in the same position so is it a case of picking up the one they can get the best deal on? Johnson has the potential to be really good if he can work on his strength when carrying the ball.
  14. It depends if they come in for any of our players later in the window, it becomes difficult for Liverpool and Chelsea to raise any sort of serious complaint if they have happily sold players to them, unless they go for way above market value.
  15. I wouldn’t see us not qualifying for CL as going backwards but our aim should be a second consecutive season of breaking up the sky big six. If we don’t do that and all of them finish above us then I will see that as us going backwards, as we have failed to keep up.
  16. I would say it is similar to Gordon in that a player we want is available before we expected, so we are moving to secure them now they are available. A RB was likely earmarked for next summer but with Southampton being relegated it has given us the opening to go earlier on this one.
  17. I agree with this, there can be no accusations of the company not backing Howe in the transfer market or a lack of ambition. If we can get away with spending it we will.
  18. Every window journalists have been fed the line about a budget and every window we have gone above that. I actually think they had been given a ballpark budget by the club, not so the club can try and fool other clubs about what we have to spend but more that it was what we had budgeted for as part of a bigger plan. The issue is that the owners are ambitious and want us to kick on so every window we went that little further than we wanted to and that has impacted the budget for future windows, which is why we are in the position we are in now. There is only one way we can overcome FFP in the short term and that is the sell players, people will point to the likes of Lewis and Hayden but these players are worth next to nothing, so it has to be a player or players that will command a decent fee that can be booked as profit. Otherwise we stick with what we have, spend limited amounts and hope someone will do us a loan to buy deal but that sort of player might not be on the list.
  19. I thought he was England’s best player and they won the tournament, they don’t usually give the player of the tournament to someone that was knocked out in the group stages.
  20. It would be strange in that Barnes plays down the left and Diaby predominantly plays down the right. Out of both sides the right is more pressing than the left to be upgraded.
  21. This was from Howe in May: "Dan [Ashworth, director of football] has made the point to me about trading being an important part of our future. That does not necessarily mean selling your best players, but trading with FFP rules can be a good thing for your finances," he continued.
  22. He looks like he went bobbing for apples in the chip pan.

I agree with the likes of Bruno and Isak, the bigger concern with those players is that we don’t push on and they want to leave for a more ambitious club, which will potentially happen if the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool overtake us as we have our hands tied.
