It depends who the RCB is but it wouldn’t have been great. The summer improvements should have been to improvements to CM, LB, RW and RCB cover and we would have only filled half of those.

I’ve never mentioned £50m but £30m could be achieved.

Surely that depends on who we replace him with and if it is a long term improvement.

My understanding is the purchase from the draw isn’t mandatory, as in if you do not want the seat then you didn’t have to have it even if you are in the draw.

The argument would have to be that it was indirect discrimination but I don’t think it would be, the club would say there is no obligation on the individual to buy the ticket if they were not happy with the location.

We are quick to point out that Almiron had a bright month which inflated his figures but nearly 45% of Wilson’s league goals last season were scored in April. If we could get £30 million for him then I would sell him and invest in someone who will be the future, he is going to need replacing in the next couple of years anyway as he is 32 in February.

His contract should have been sorted last season as if he doesn’t start the majority of games I can see him leaving on a free.

This is the issue, much like Ashby he needs games to develop and not just brief sub appearances. He played a total of 395 minutes of league football last season and with the additions of Tonali and Barnes it is going to be much more difficult for him to get the minutes he needs. I know he’s come back fit and sharp pre season but when everyone is up I speed he’s likely to be sixth choice midfielder at best. Wasting his career is the crucial point, as if he continues to be a bit part player then the club will outgrow him.

It would be harsh on Anderson but I don’t think it would send out a wrong message to those in the youth set up, if anything it demonstrates there is a plan for developing youth players through loans which is already happening with Minteh, Kuol and about to happen with Ashby. The issue with Anderson is he should have gone out in January but didn’t as we sold Shelvey without a replacement, so there is a feeling of obligation to keep him because he didn’t go out then, despite it now probably not being the best thing for either him or the club. My biggest concern is that he stays, hardly gets any real game time and the club outgrows him over the next few years anyway where he isn’t even good enough for a squad player, with us handling his development that badly he isn’t even worth much in terms of a transfer fee either.

This is a sign of how underwhelming this window has been.

I would loan him out to a Championship team and use Miley as back up until Christmas, if he does well then extend for the rest of the season. We can make the call then about his long term prospects around the first team and if he’s had an excellent season on loan we are more likely to get a decent fee for him if he doesn’t make the grade.

I don’t think this is about what he is worth, more that people expected an inflated transfer fee as they seen it as PIF being able to pump extra money in to the club to get around FFP.

The summer should be about negotiating with clubs and incoming players rather than negotiating extensions to players already tied to long term contracts, especially when he has come back to pre season so off the pace.

Tierney is the second fastest defender in the league behind Walker apparently.

I found the interchange of positions in attack really interesting and looks to be going one step further than last season. I do think he might shift to a 4-2-3-1 going forward and having a front four that can be fluid with their position, with Bruno and Tonali playing a double pivot.

I agree with this, it would be better to keep him with the squad this season and then loan him out next year if he doesn’t breakthrough, which would be understandable due to his age.

Isn’t that what we bought Tonali for? If it isn’t then we have to question the point of it.

I went in to the window thinking we needed improvements to the first team in LB, CM and RW plus cover for Schar. If the window closes and we have Burn and Targett at left back and Almiron and Murphy on the right then I won’t see it as a successful window.
