Brighton are one of three teams that can potentially catch us, I want them to drop as many points as possible. While it would be funny seeing Everton get relegated they are irrelevant to us in the grand scheme of things.

We need to approach this like the Everton game, Leeds will see this as a must win and the crowd will be on their side pushing them for a fast start. if we can see that out and then look to take control.

On reflection the decision to play Isak and Wilson together was the wrong one, I know there was a clamour for it to happen but as I said before the game this was a must win for Arsenal and not for us, so we would have been better off looking to keep a solid formation at the start and then changing things as the game went on or more open. We still played well and created chances but the early goal which came against the run of play made us open to be hit on the counter and that is what Arsenal did, they have a better balance in their midfield than we do and it is made worse by Longstaff being out. I know there is talk of Bruno not being 100% fit but his poor performance was about holding on to the ball too long, trying flicks in dangerous positions and ultimately getting caught in possession and dispossessed. At times in the worst position possible to try it. Arsenal are a great side and hopefully it gives the team a better understanding of what we need to do to get to their level.

While there are areas to upgrade it is a nice problem to have when we are sitting third in the league and we deserve to be there. LB, CB, CM and an attacker and we are cementing our place as cracking the sky big six.

I don’t disagree but the policy seems to be that they have long term targets identified and are prepared to wait to get them. Gordon was signed as he became available unexpectedly, if the identified midfielders became available in January we would have likely gone for them instead. I don’t think it was ever Gordon over a midfielder.

I would be tempted to play Anderson in the middle, he had a decent cameo today and his link up play will be needed to break Leeds down. This midfield trio doesn’t work, I can’t put my finger on why but it was the same in the first half against Southampton.

Sky just said we had more possession, more touches in the final third, more touches in the box and a higher expected goals. We were not that bad, Arsenal scored at the right time and their game management was excellent.

Hopefully playing Isak and Wilson together is a success but I hope we don’t regret playing the Joelinton and Willock partnership on the left that offers Burn protection against the better teams.

Howe is going to struggle to keep Isak and Wilson happy without throwing Abraham in to the mix

The thing with this game is it is a must win for Arsenal but it isn’t for us, so they will be under pressure to go for it which will leave is plenty of space and opportunities for us when we break. I do think it will be a draw though and I don’t see that as being a disappointing result on paper.

I think Spurs might go for him if Kane leaves.

Despite our form in the second half of last season, if anyone had said in the summer that Howe would have us sat in a Champions League spot in May they would have been laughed at. We are 14 points behind Man City which isn’t much at all, it is the same distance between ourselves and Spurs/Villa if we win our game in hand. With 3 or 4 quality signings there is no reason that we can’t make gains in closing that gap with City, we have both lost 4 yet we have drawn 7 more games, coincidentally we drew 7 games against current bottom half teams. it is crazy how far he has taken us in the last 18 months and I think he’s capable of taking us further over the next few years.
