They were just helping us to prepare against the stronger sides, so we can figure out how to beat them in the PL.

As long as we are sure that it gets done by the end of the window, can't we spend that money in the mean time? Not a cash flow issue as mentioned before. FFP calculations is not a day to day thing.

Tonali provides good cover and competition for Anderson. Can't expect Anderson to be able to play every game in all competitions.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

Haaland 13 goals away from making the top 10 list already. At the age of 23. -
Technically we need another LB, CB, Striker, RW after Livra to be fully set.. Obviously that's not possible. Just need to make the best out of it. If we sign Barnes and Livra for 38m and 30m, we've spent 123m - 30m (ASM) which is £93m. Maybe we can afford 1 more player, but that will technically not be enough to fight on all fronts still. Which I don't think we could've expected going into the window. Our squad was thin before the window, so that's why I'm saying we would've needed like 8 players (maybe more like 6) to be able to fully "compete on all fronts", atleast by the standards of some fans..
-
The amount of people saying "not god enough with the added games of European football".. Do these people know that FFP exists? How could we possibly have made our squad good enough to compete on 4 fronts without breaking the FFP rules? Sign 8 players for a total of £350 mill? I also hope for 2 more players after Barnes (Livramento + 1 more maybe), but some people on there saying we need 3 or 4 more players even if we get Livramento.. I'd say that they've done well even if all they get is these 3 in the picture. Step by step, lets be realistic..
-
"Players that we should've signed" Everytime they play a good game we can vent our frustration there
-
Maybe I phrased it to look that way, but I don't necessarily think it's injustice and that we owe him anything. I think it was the right thing to let him go now. Maybe he even wanted it himself. I just think it's a bit of a shame how it all panned out in the end with him.
-
One thing that's really sad about this is that if he leaves to Saudi it means that he may not get to play in the Champions League ever.. Left the moment he got there with us, after what we went through together the last years. He was linked with Champions League clubs in some windows aswell. Who knows though, maybe he will go back to Europe at some point..
-
Can't wait to see him do double digit goals and assists next season, then we can discuss his xA after that.
-
Theres no difference in measuring actual assists and xA sure.. As my edit says: Willock got less than 1 xA vs Tottenham. Remember that assist? Just Isak being effective, nothing to do with the Willock pass.
-
Sorry, but lower xA that output doesn't mean that much to me.. Looking at our xA from last season, some players stats suggests that we were ineffective while others suggests that we were effective. I don't think that xA is a real proof of anything. Remember Willocks assist vs Tottenham? He got less than 1 xA that game, providing one of the assists of the season which Isak should score almost everytime. I'd rather see a video of the assists.
-
Assists are not nearly as common as goals, the Premier League record in a season is 20. 10 assists is often within the top 5 or 6 in the entire league. In the 21/22 season Barnes was joint 3rd.
-
I don't remember how effective they were in the 21/22 season, but they barely finished in the top 10. I can imagine that it wont be that hard to provide assists in our team next season.
-
When was the last time we had a player that provided 10+ assists in a single PL season? Must be ages ago. Trippier did 7 last season.
-
This guy provided 10 assists in the 21/22 PL season. 23 assists in the last 4 seasons. Not all about the goals really, their strikers just dropped in form last season.
-
I bet Barnes will be able to beat that.. He already did several times by a mile.
-
Whats his best output in a season? In terms of g/a
-
Lets just ignore that Maxi gets injured a lot, and whenever he does think about how much he could've done if he wasn't injured.
-
That could've happened next season aswell..
-
Well, yeah. They may all be rumours, but there's a difference between "asking price" and reports of what a player is probably going to end up being sold for
-
Why does asking price matter? Not long ago Maddison was not going unless Leicester got atleast £60 mill. It's about what other clubs are willing to pay.
-
The young and british tax hits hard. But it doesn't seem like Newcastle is willing to pay that amount.
-
But I'm talking more about how much Howe fancy him. It seemed that Howe himself prefered the other options, like Joelinton and Isak out wide. I don't think it was all down to injuries and being careful.
