Well most people thought Pedro would be used as CF rotation with Isak, and as a SS in a 4-2-3-1, but I thought he'd also be used in Joelintons place too at times, he has the strength, height and general ability to play there If we had 4 CM's of excellent quality (Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gallagher) I couldn't see us play with a 2 man midfield and less likely to have a '10' role on the pitch I'd see as strengthening our current style of play but not becoming more versatile
-
In isolation, Gallagher would be an amazing signing, especially as a Longstaff replacement, the perfect Eddie Howe midfielder However, surely thar closes the door on a Pedro/Cunha type of footballer for us, which I very much want us to have
-
This, hear this a lot, but like you say, aren't we 'cash rich' and FFP poor?
-
Is that a poster on here?
-
Quick YouTube scout on Loic Bade and he looks a good player Tall, fast, and can pick a pass Apparently he turned down Villa in the January transfer window, they offered £20m or so
-
Agreed, our CM's put so much graft in, we really do need depth there and Howe doesn't trust anyone other than the main 3 For CM I'd like us to sell 1 of Willock/Longstaff, get a quality LCM (Ederson, Lamine Camara etc) Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, new CM, Miley, Willock - Happy with that
-
Fair play Villa Replacing missing CL revenue with loophole £50M Doing their absolute best to try and consolidate themselves in the European spots via off the pitch methods (loopholes and singings/wages) Annoys me... We've taken a squeaky-clean approach the past couple of years. We held back on spending, sold players, relied on Eddie Howe’s magic to overachieve with minimal investment, and for what? Makes it feel like our frugality and restraint have been pointless when shit like this exists No issues with Villa doing it, hate the game not the player etc
-
Too small, slow and weak for an Eddie Howe RW or CM role If there is 1 player who done well at the Under 21's, it's Anderson
-
Good to hear Way more talented than Pedro imo, he's insane at dribbling and has a great shot on him. Though not sure if he's be as good out of possession, and will cost a fair bit more I think? Might be the next player I starting willing to sign 😂
-
7 head contract puts me at peace We cannot match that (and shouldn't either) Financially the best move for him
-
I know, but this is a forum, with opinions and discussion 😂 I just mean I'd be really keen to have him, I genuinely don't know any other players like him, as I don't follow other leagues closely, and think he ticks so many boxes. I'd be more gutted with Pedro going to Chelsea, then Mbuemo going to Man U, as I feel there are other options at RW that improve us, where as the the CM/AM/ST is more complicated I think he would at times Get a faster CB, Pope/Trafford sweeper keeper, push the defensive line higher up, Bruno plays a bit closer to Tonali, the space in midfield is reduced, and I think Pedro would do a job as LCM
-
I'm bothered like, unless anyone is aware of another player who can cover Joelinton/LCM and also up front Fucking Chelsea man
-
I hope we 'fail upwards' with regards to our signings Similar to how we went with Isak after agreeing Pedro (although this was a reaction to the Wilson injury) Assuming our number 1 targets are the ideal ratio of price/talent/age/etc, maybe our second target is more talented but carries more risk due to price, playing in Europe etc
-
Say we don't get Pedro, what other similar players are there out there? If we got him, I'd see him being used as the LCM role often with Bruno closer to Tonali. As well as him covering St etc etc Cunha we have missed, people mentioning Simmons but can't say I've seen him
-
Is Nkunku linked somewhere? Just assumed he'd command a big fee as he he has ages left and wasn't cheap (I think) as well as being disappointing while here
-
Dunno why but I feel we will get Pedro Think all this is from Brightons end to get the price up, or from Chelsea’s end to lower prices of other targets And it's coming from London journalists who are in Chelsea’s pocket... Plus, they have Delap and Jackson at ST, plenty of wingers and they are getting Gittens, Palmer who is their main man, Nkunku and KDH who have years left... Probably some others I've forgotten about It would be a terrible use of (endless..) resources for them, they don't need this type of player
-
Don't want to jinx it, but honestly sounds like Chelsea are just being put in these conversations by Brighton to bump up his price All the same vague stuff about Chelsea being interested
-
Reckon we are going to have a suprise target / singing at CB? Way less noise at CB, and Guehi potentially off to Liverpool / seemingly every club wanting him Also, if we are prepared to put up the money for Pedro/Elanga/Trafford, I wonder how much we can spend at CB
-
He's missed 30%+ of the last few seasons I am sure He's a year older and his style of play is entirely dependent on his physical levels being high / not dropping Tin hat on, but he isn't the most consistent player. I recall many times over the past few years where everyone complains about him having subpar performances, then he has a run of form as is back to everyone's favourite / most important player
-
Absolutely. I don't want us to become a Brighton / City team. I love our direct style of play But I thought Martinez when we played Villa away was immense. Baited our press, nice clean passes to Rogers/Watkins and our shape and subsequently defense got ripped apart Add this to our game with our pace merchants and we are laughing We extended Dubs by 1 year didn't we? Hope we can get a fee from Saudi for him
-
Buckled me this 😂 Totally agree with this. Who knows as its all rumours ultimately... But could Pedro be rotated with Joelinton at LCM, Osula finally gets given a chance and does a Hall/Gordon after a cracking Summer tournament, so Pedro isn't needed as much as a 9 Still not ideal depth at CM, but can't see us getting a Ederson level CM, and we don't seem to get the Burn type signings anymore (CM equivalent I refer to)
-
It isn't clear how much is with add ons Could it be we offered 40m + 5m with add ons? Wonder how high we are prepared to go
-
I like the idea of Elanga, providing we get someone like Joao Pedro in Doubling down on Howe's style whilst adding some quality and guile through the middle Only question I have, will Elanga get the absolute best out of Tino when he moves back to RB? We've seen how effective Tino is on the left with a good LW to work with. I know Elanga is very 2 footed, but not sure how often he would be cutting in / making space for Tino to cause havoc

Thoughts on the Scalvini rumours?
