Thought Adeyemi was class against Madrid in the CL final. He was pretty much a 1 man counter attack that game until he came off I used to want him a lot for our RW, but now would rather someone similar to the style of Olise

If Villa make top 5 / CL this season then these loan moves are an absolute success and moment of genius. Apparently they have banked 70m for finishing in the top 8 in CL If they don't, then they're covered by the Duran 70m I presume

I've said this before but I'm not sure we'd sign a third striker, I think it would block Osula's pathway. More like a RW who can cover upfront, in the ilk of Mbuemo? Having said that, that's assuming Osula does a Hall and actually gets used next season rather than bench warming. If he's not good enough to take reasonable minutes off Isak and cover in his absence, then yeah we'd need further cover up front

Just had a good read of it, thanks for this!

No FFP expert here so apologies in advance, quiet time at work so thought I'd try and better understand our situation 😂. @The College Dropout Any thoughts from you as you seem well versed with it? 21/22 and 22/23 combined were (£144m) losses. So in 23/24 we needed a profit of at least £39m to hit the £105m threshold To do this, we sold around £60m of players, and Deloitte estimated our revenues for 23/24 to be £309m Does this mean our annual costs as of June 2024 are 309 + 60 - 39 = £330m? And therefore our current 3 year cycle could look like - 22/23 - (£70m) 23/24 - £39m 24/25 - (£21m)* *309 rev-330 costs , obviously won't be right as our revenue will have changed

Did you miss the part where they signed Malen, Rashford, Asensio (I think?) and tried to sign Felix? Looking at Disasi etc Seems very much like they're bolstering their attack ahead of an impressive CL campaign and whilst they still have a chance to make top 5 in the league. Not just replacing Duran, and he wasn't anywhere near as key for them as Isak is to us, since you mentioned Isak previously Your first reply suggests you think I was comparing their approach this window to ours, and that for us to do similar we'd need to sell Isak. I made no comparison at all to us. I just said fair to them making a right go of it Having said that, I do wish there was 1 decent attacking loan option we could have made from abroad somewhere

What? I'm not saying that or anything about us, I'm just saying they are seriously going for it with their singings / targets this month, whilst they are still within distance of CL in the league and entering the knockouts in the CL. Their business seems strange when you consider their FFP position / apparent wages / revenue percentage, but they clearly think it's worth the gamble for CL money and glory

Woah, so that's us, Chelsea and Tottenham who had strong interest in him I assume that is a club bids, it means the player is happy to join that club? If so I wonder who he'll pick from in Summer
-
Yeah I just checked and the CL total money is roughly around €2.2B, Europa around €500M and Conference €250M It's insane how much the CL helps Financially, no wonder Villa are making all these signings this window
-
Interesting how Villa, who I consider pretty parallel to us in terms of FFP position, good managers, similar quality squads, ambitious etc........ are very happy to do loans and 2 of their first 11 are from free transfers, while we seem to hate the idea of loans and our only free transfer is getting sold 6 months later
-
Is it unreasonable for us to start Pope on Wednesday? Can only imagine Arsenal will peg us back and there'll be a load of shots conceded / their fancy set piece routines
-
Or another left winger, perhaps?

Stupid questions here.. £15m WITH add ons.... This means the fee we are banking is £15m, and not a lower base fee and including add ons, becoming £15m? And since this is a loan with obligation, assuming this means we get the money in next year's financial year (otherwise they'd have bought him now?) so if doesn't help this year's FFP position?
-
Supposedly doubt for the Arsenal game, shame as its a game we really need him for
-
3 times today Romano has tweeted about it?!
-
Fantastic that Bournemouth and Villa have lost today I fancy Arsenal to beat City Hope Potter can get West Ham a result against Chelsea
-
Not for me, plus we don't have depth at CB for this
-
Wish Wolves buried there chances first half
-
The cynic in me thinks Howe subbed him on to show that he is still part of our plans to bump up a fee 😂. Considering him at LB rather than Hall makes us far worse going forward while down 2-1 But naa, I'm sure Hall came off as he was all done
-
I just suggested this in the Joelinton thread and came in here to see this.. Definitely in agreement Though I wonder who'd we replace with as Longstaff / Willock are poor but we wouldn't want to break the bank when RW, CB, keeper etc are urgent
-
Probably a controversial one as I know he's loved, but is he someone we could sell to Saudi for pretty decent money without complaints? All our other sales / potential sales like Maxi, Miggy, Trippier, Targett etc are pretty small He turns 29 this summer and is in his prime, appears to have a 'reputation' which seems to partially matter to the Saudis, is capped for Brazil etc. And we bought him for £40m and he is now clearly a better player than we first signed him In a non PSR world I'd rather keep him, he's a great physical presence, can play a few positions, and can can be used tactically by Howe such as when he's played as a wing back / CB out of possession I'm just thinking with his age, probably high salary after his last contract extension, could he be a valuable sale to help us. Obviously a downside would be that he'd need replacing and Willock/Longstaff are poor..
-
Botman has never played left back?
-
You have to consider the Vlach 20m Anderson £35m Vlach (£20m) Net £15m Anderson £35m Elanga (£50m) Net (£15m) Seeing him perform this season, I think he'd have been a great addition for around £30m, like a better Murphy imo. Though hindsight and all that

Maybe using the Duran fee to consolidate wages across their squad, rather than maximise the 70m with new signings? Just an idea
