Maybe PTSD from last season, but I'd be terrified only having 1 CM on the bench, knowing what can happen to us with injuries
-
Got an eye on Ederson, thought he was class in the Europa final last season and we were linked with him. Just got a yellow mind
-
Imagine that's Gordon up front then? Wonder if Osula will get some minutes
-
No wonder he's mates with Gordon
-
How have these done in their first 4 games? Looking forward to our good 20 min start and from there then back and forward game..
-
Villa started pretty well too, good job is customary for us to take 6 points off them during the season
-
Definitely agree Hall would be the better option to invert, he's seems a talented passer, and also means Tino is on the right of a back 3 so we have his 1v1 ability and recovery pace there Guess the risk is that means Burn is on the left of the 3 and after last season, Howe might not fancy that. Though we have Kelly now..
-
Aye Tino and Trippier couldn't be more different as right backs I really think Tino has enough to be an elite RB, he has all the physical qualities in abundance, just needs to keep working on a few things But we do miss Trippier's ball playing ability when he isn't on
-
Yeah they were absolutely quality, and both bulletproof that season too unlike now Kind of sad we will likely never see it again, understandably since we have Barnes and Gordon there
-
Unreal seeing that, especially after having 2 away games
-
Left CM for sure. Could probably do a job as a number 10 but we don't play a formation that enables that It's between him and Joelinton for that left CM slot. It's been a while since Willock has had a run of games, but I do think he is better than Joelinton at most things going forward, especially when we are in possession Joelinton is better defensively and is also a good target man for going long from goal kicks or when we want to beat the press etc. Nice to have both of them imo
-
Do worry about his defensive ability, of course he's young and will still improve, but those who are very good defensively tend to show more ability for it at a young age, e.g it was one of Tino's strong points when he was at Southampton etc
-
Missed the last 15 mins, but surely we won't get an easier away game this season? Need to turn this around
-
Tonali would be absolutely perfect for this game, we are having a lot of the ball and not receiving much pressure. And we also haven't played many adventurous passes forward
-
Clubs should be able to spend the same amount as each other imo, would resolve so many issues
-
Brentford away points to this, we were great in the second half with the 4-4-2
-
Good luck living up to that eh
-
Isn't Son very good as a 9 these days?
-
Agreed, as big of a no-brainer as it gets.
-
Not sure what you mean mate? I just mean Madrid / Barca /PSG / Dortmund / Arsenal / Inter / Bayern / Liverpool already have plenty games against each other, shall be an interesting watch Also, Villa have a pretty easy draw all things considered
-
So many big champions league games drawn immediately in this new layout Not gonna lie, jealous we aren't in the mix
-
His 1 touch passing is incredible, it stands out on our team
-
Interesting we have took the approach to go big on 1 player We could have attempted Lacroix & Chiesa for around £28M Or Huijsen & Gruda for around £38M Etc etc There was definitely cheaper alternatives out there, and although I'd love Guehi, over the next couple years, we are likely going to need 2 RW and CB, as Miggy/Murphy and Schar/Burn are all old or fairly old So having a young, talented, cheaper player would have worked well as even if they didn't turn into a Bruno or Isak, they would hopefully be a good second choice, or even be a decent FFP flip I'm sure the club have thought of this though and know better than me 😂
-
Chiesa to Liverpool for £11m, wow Suprised way more clubs didn't take a chance on him for that cheap, unless wages are crazy, but Liverpool are normally pretty strict aren't they?
-
Agreed, not certain as the window is still open, but we could have really cemented ourselves as the main threat behind Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal Would always be hard as Chelsea, Man U and Tottenham have deeper squads, but with a quality RW, CB and decent back up keeper. I reckon we'd be right up there Now, we are relying on Howe getting every ounce out of each player again, many who aren't at the required level
