  1. Why would we offer £150k though? He’d be getting same wage at best, or slightly less and Juventus covering £5k-£10k for rest of his contract if they want rid. Could be like £110k pw in a deal, and is that really that bad? Won’t be increasing and in 2-3 years time that wage point will be a low end compared to many others.
  2. It is overpriced, but one that probably needs doing now. If Cordero steps up on his loan out to Ajax and Osula, there’s a valid chance that with Gordon / Isak ages if they are operating at high levels, we don’t need to then touch the forward positions for 2026 or 2027 (just a rotation striker or RW depending on Osula long term position). Barnes could be sold if Cordero steps up. So in that context, paying slightly over the odds for a RW who’s young can be justified as the funds are spent on defence / CM next summer.
  3. Seen prices of his wage range from £100k to £135k, which eventually for the rotation CM we want of quality we will have to pay that wage level eventually. It’s a tempting deal if there for £25m, probably hard matched to get proven quality for similar price point. Risks of motivation level etc. but I always feel with Brazilian players, there’s a market for a sale to Saudi in 2 years to recoup final fee to balance books if needed.
  4. I like both Elanga and Mbeumo, but how is one easily a game changer worth £60m+ and Elanga not? Is it just because of the scoring record at RW where he’s significantly outperformed his xg? 15 in 38 and 4 in 25 if you take out his penalties (as we have Isak) in his last two seasons. Paying premium fee for expectation last season is going to be the bar going forward. Again remove pens, it’s G/A every 148 mins, Elanga 147. They’re both matching each other and you can argue Elanga probably can improve.
  5. Weekend. Log back into work emails Monday morning to continue negotiations.
  6. Now at Birmingham 1 year later, after a short 6 month stint at Rennes. Cost them £10m, so assume Birmingham paying close to that.
  7. Not always, agent may want another club involved so he can get more for his fee to get player to join number one club (amongst better signing on fee for player / wages).
  8. What’s the difference between decent player and being good for a team with our ambitions? Based on how season has progressed and his performances in Euros, he’s very much on cusp of being a strong player for a side pushing for major honours. First full season as a regular in CM, and he’s looked every inch the part then many others in the league in same age bracket. Repeats what he’s done (Forest will drop off, but he keeps performances going with an England call up that’s highly likely now), he’s on top of the list for all clubs in England next summer.
  9. HERE WE GO Confirmed tomorrow to someone else so we can close the thread.
  10. Chelsea win CWC. Sell Madueke to Arsenal. Then move in to sign Elanga for £60m, because why not?
  11. Signing like Madueke or Eze will nullify that in short term, and with Saka a lock down, it’s hard to persuade. Especially if Nwaneri has England ambitions and locking down for 5 years could see him end up going same way as a Reiss Nelson. Career just drifts, and you are moving on at 23 after stop start time. Genuine door open for a club to make a move. £25m+ with a year left will be hard to turn down for Arsenal.
  12. I can’t see clubs announcing any over next few days after the Jota news and impending funeral. Even if they’re lined up and likes of Romano release ‘here we go soon’, wouldn’t expect anything official till early next week.
  13. It certainly is a risk when there’s legit question marks still over Botman long term fitness. With Schar on last legs, Burn who is still at same level and been incredible (but a huge weary he could suddenly drop off at any point), having two £30m+ CBs that then potentially can’t string multiple months together fitness free would be damaging.
  14. They are, which is why fee is low and clubs maybe not interested. Bit of a gamble, but we need to make those to close the gap.
  15. Said before that Forest need a sale this summer and they’re kidding themselves if they don’t think so. Only way they can afford not being close to breaking PSR next summer and MGW window is seemingly gone, Anderson they won’t sell this summer, Murillo doesn’t have the market right now, so they can’t force away a legit high bid for a player that does have a market. I’d expect this to get done.
  16. Has to be done at that price point. If not we have to pivot quickly elsewhere and not waste time, even if he’s Howe number one target like Guehi last summer.
  17. If he was any good, he’d be joining Brighton.
  18. I agree, but we all know Howe will want key players in and on his training schedule. The RW, GK and CB at a minimum we want to be starting from day one.
  19. They have Nwaneri. Signing Madueke is on par with Liverpool signing Chiesa, a player that will essentially get minimal meaningful game time because the guy ahead is a star player and blocks off a pathway for a young player.
  20. Can’t even officially release Wilson in a timely manner either. He’s P45 being delivered by foot.
  21. No CEO, no DoF, taking an age to complete a deal for a GK that agreed to join 12 months ago. Thank fuck we’ve got Howe. Players themselves will be chatting to their agent asking WTF is happening with signing players because they will want to be pushing on.
  22. Another player trading profit for Chelsea
  23. Going down Burnley route. Where Bellemy himself said was wrong approach, because they lacked experience in the side.
  24. Not signing anyone, so can’t afford to let anyone go.
  25. Not sure why Madueke would join Arsenal. Well I would actually, staying in London and on good wages, but it’s a move where he won’t ever be a regular. Saka is the main man at RW, so unless he’s a direct LW, it’s just scratch minutes and never being giving a consistent run.
