Probably a guff piece, but on flipside, it probably can be said the striker we want is someone who's 6ft 3+ giving DCL had some noise too. Guess we're looking at that type of striker.

Big Joe for me. Small psychological battles, get the big man at the front of that tunnel staring down the play maker captain for other side

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to Tour Singapore
Sibierski replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
He didn’t get a rest last summer, and played high intensity all season and basically got fucked his ankle at end of season. Glad we’ve gave him an extended break because he needs it. -
Think it’s more fortunate that we’ve not had a Schar injury yet. To go into the season without signing an actual CB would be dumbest thing we could ever do. Lascelles filled in last season, but let’s be honest, we can’t be having him starting RCB if we want to get pushing back upwards.
-
If Isak can’t manage a 38 game season, then something is wrong with him IMO. Gordon can fill in there, and so can Joelinton in emergency, in the times Wilson is broken again. Like I’d rather sign another CM than end up with say a DCL or someone that’s not increasing our quality.
-
I’m not really fussed about a striker. Rather play the long game with that since we don’t have Europe. If there’s someone we’ve got an eye on and it’s a no this summer but possibility next summer, just wait. RW / CB are the musts this window, of starting quality. Then opportunist CM if one becomes available.
-
Like I said other day, he’s underlying stats must be so good for clubs to be sniffing. Just comes with the package of being a bell, so that potential could be realised or it’s another Balotelli.
-
Don’t see why Liverpool want him at the moment when they have money tied up in Diaz and Gakpo for LW, heck even Nunez can play there. Got more pressing areas they need to sort out first, including getting VVD/TAA on new deals.
-
That means a deal being announced this weekend then since that twat is always wide of the mark.

Unsuccessful. Good start for going as a pair, literally continuing of last season

I thought after Euros we’d see some movement, but not been the case. Starting to think the real shift in transfer policy is seeking out the number 1 target, and if they’re not available, playing the long game, and if it means no signing, it’s no signing. Also, depends on someone moving out too. Avoids any FFP issues, and provides opportunity to move in January. Sort of approach that may frustrate Howe if he wants reinforcements, but then with Tonali back after a couple of games, Kelly in and like of Hall now more first team than start of last season, it’s three new players the club may see as improvement. So whilst it may annoy Howe and us fans wanting the new names, there’s no reason we can’t keep up same output as last season. Wait for that main buy, rather than a squad filler.

Suppose it depends how much Gordon would've been rested and his numbers down a couple to be added onto Barnes. First 6 or 7 games in the season, he started just once. Don't think it would've changed that much IMO, just the option of some fresh legs. Which goes back to the reviewing of future transfer approach. Are rotational fresh legs option at £40m worth it for future buys?
-
I think Barnes transfer was just a case of, player on list is available, we have money to spend, shall we do it? Yea. Hindsight, probably would be don't make that deal, don't have PSR pressures come end of season, and not be panic stations. But I can only assume club looked at RW and felt Almiron/Murphy were good and didn't see Anderson as a LW, so option there was one of Joe/Willock and so a gap was available. I guess with that, it's probably made the club evaluate what they view the squad as moving forward because it wasn't really a must do deal and we've probably paid a price for it but needing to move on Minteh who could be good, and the dodgy deal with Forest to lose Anderson.
-
For the FFP, I do think we banked on bringing in around an extra £10m+ from going further in Europe, and going out altogether was a disaster. Then unable to move on anyone in January because we were fisted with injuries so rolled the dice more on qualifying for Europe, which then backfired.
-
The RW doesn't have to be one that's played RW for his whole career with output, we need someone who can drift, play in pockets and just all round be a strong player in final third. Tino is a RB that will hit the byline all the time, so don't really need another body on RW that hugs the touchline. MGW I maintain should be a buy.

Has Kellyman got a buy back clause? They've also been able to make deals on players like Archer, because they have an actual academy which we haven't. We'll be years away before we can get to a level similar of producing players that are capable of playing in Championship. Can argue it helped in some way to them getting UCL, but they spent money on Zaniolo and Lenglet last season, who have no future with them. As mentioned, they have both good and bad deals to show. We sell Hall next summer say for £50m, are we lauded as a well run club in PSR world?
-
Swings about. They signed Coutinho, Carlos, Dedoncker, Moreno for £70m in 2022/23, and probably get scratch money back for them. Being fortunate that the Saudis have giving them their money back for Diaby isn't part of some long term plan, just enables them to then spend more elsewhere which may or may not help them.
-
They've had to sell and make some questionable deals, so not quite. Giving how they're one of the clubs that are vocal for having this removed, they are rolling the dice. Brave, but a poor season this year, and it can look very stupid next summer.
-
Let's be honest, who did he face against pace wise or level wise? Think Slovenia game he faced some direct runner, and was breezed past a few times. His role was essentially play LW, and play backwards loads. Wasn't like he was asked to defend consistently.
-
I like Miggy and feel there potentially is a player worth keeping for his work rate, but then on flipside, he's a sellable asset who won't be a regular, and can only play RW. At least with Murphy, you have option of him being a useful emergency RB, so you get extended use out of him within the squad. Miggy, it's just RW and for the running output. He's just at an unfortunate time, where for a back up RW, you need them to either offer more versatility if the main guy is the star, or they need to youngster with potential.

Chelsea want around £30m for Chalobah. I'm sure a deal can be made for £20m with some add ons. I really would prefer him and if Botman comes back the player of 22-23 season, it's a good combo. Both like 6ft 4, Chalobah with the pace, Botman with the long passes. Both at good ages for a partnership for seasons to come. Added option of emergency cover at RB too. Think there's value also in a guy who will have a point to prove and likely has England ambitions.

Think all I’m gathering from the rumours, we’re signing someone from Seria A. Far too much noise on different players for us to not be speaking some agents of players based in that league. BREAKING: Newcastle have £65m bid rejected for Karadona.
-
The ankle injury was a complete freak injury too. No muscle injuries which would always be the concern after an ACL injury.
-
Always together, which I think limited the success of applications. As if there were only a handful together, not much chance. But now, say the seating is like below Seat A - Taken Seat B - Available Seat C - Taken Seat D - Available Seat E - Taken Seat F - Taken I would take B and D. And if ol matey in C wanted to move seat, great, if not, no dramas but at least we can get two tickets together and not lose out.

Are we going to get a mental August for transfers? Just feels in general in the premier league, not much is happening and it’s going to explode soon.
