Aye don't think anyone will go in at that price, or even £30m less.

Here's what the West Ham ITK said in full fwiw: "Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, club insider ExWHUEmployee has provided an update on the situation, with rivals Spurs understood to have shown an interest in the forward. “The most sellable asset that we have is Mohammed Kudus,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “There is a lot of interest for the player from both abroad and domestically. “We have already reported the interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle, well there is a new player in town and that is Spurs. Daniel Levy is said to have made an enquiry into the evaluation of the Ghanaian international. “The club are reluctant to sell and at the moment the enquiries, that Spurs have made thought to be around £50m, are not near what West Ham would deem an acceptable amount. “The release clause is thought to be around £85m but West Ham may consider slightly less. The hope is that a bidding war erupts between the interested parties and drives the figure up close to the £85m mark. This would then be accepted with much needed money going into the depleted funds."

The tweet doesn't quite match what the article says: "Business is expected to “ramp up” next week – a move for Brighton forward Joao Pedro is “advancing”, sources suggest, with Newcastle in pole position ahead of Chelsea"
-
That exwhuemployee is a legit West Ham ItK if memory serves.

I also have a vague memory of Nickson being responsible for identifying Minteh despite Ashworth getting credit for it too.
-
Interesting that it's Nickson who pushed for Cordero and Salia according to this article. Think most of us had assumed they were Mitchell signings.

Or like us Klopp specifically named us along with City as one of the clubs poor little scrappy Liverpool could never dream of keeping up with. "I heard now that at Newcastle somebody [sporting director Dan Ashworth] said 'there is no ceiling for this club'. Yes! He is right. He is absolutely right. There is no ceiling for Newcastle. Congratulations, but some other clubs have ceilings!"

On the basis I feel Monaco would be asking the same for Akliouche as Forest would for Elanga (circa £50m reportedly), Elanga probably feels like the safer option. Would be very pleased with either though. Kudus looks good too but West Ham are in a position to ask even more given how much they paid for him.

From a Liverpool news site about Julian Ward's background/experience: https://www.daveockop.com/transfer-news/newcastle-united-show-interest-in-julian-ward/ "Julian Ward first joined Liverpool in October 2012 as European Scouting Manager for the Spain and Portugal regions, having previously worked in Manchester City’s scouting setup and on Carlos Queiroz’s Portugal national team staff. Over the next three years he developed Liverpool’s loan pathways and partnerships, taking up the role of Loan Pathways & Football Partnerships Manager in late 2015 and establishing the club’s loan department. Ward’s promotion continued in December 2020 when he became Assistant Sporting Director, working directly under Michael Edwards to coordinate recruitment, oversee analytics, and negotiate transfers amid Liverpool’s title-winning period. In June 2022, he succeeded Edwards as Sporting Director, taking charge of Liverpool’s transfer strategy and leading on high-profile signings – although it did not last long. After stepping down at the end of the 2022–23 season, Ward was persuaded by Edwards to return to the Fenway Sports Group structure om June 2024, as group Technical Director. In this expanded role he oversees Liverpool’s Academy, elite player development, the loan department, and a new football innovation division, as well as coordinating football operations across any future clubs added to FSG’s portfolio."

My impression from reading the Brighton forums over the past couple of weeks is that most Brighton fans think the idea that he's a dickhead and that he's got a temper that leads to him getting silly red cards is an outside perception that people who watch him week-in-week-out wouldn't endorse. He's had a single red card and seven yellows in the time he's been playing for you (89 appearances) and other than the Van Hecke training incident my understanding from the majority of posts I've read on various Brighton forums is that he has been a professional who always gives his all on/off the pitch. Watford fans seem to think the same fwiw. Out of interest was there any other incidents besides the Van Hecke training bust up and sole red card that you base this on? Obviously as I'm just using third hand information there's a good chance I could be wrong about all of this, just curious as your point contradicts the mostly good things from Brighton fans I've heard re his attitude. Thanks for taking the time to post here.

Got an assist from a corner for their second goal too -
Hope this doesn't interfere with their potential pursuit of Longstaff

"Not gonna say too much. ... keep going ma boy [fire emoji]" I don't feel sufficiently qualified to interpret the nuances of social media posts these days

Posting cryptically on Osula's instagram last night. Fuck knows what it means but it sounds vaguely promising

Why wouldn't the sources within The Athletic not just report it themselves?
