Reads like a rebuke to the Twitter incels who go on like it’s been Eddies life work to deliberately ruin Woltemade career.
-
The Athletic primarily, but echoed by plenty others. There will be a market for Wissa, but it’ll be at a huge loss no doubt.
-
Why? Multiple reports that Wissa will go and they will take the hit.
-
This city side winning a treble would have been ridiculous.
-
Sure but up till very recently Osula had absolutely nothing in his career to back it up. Is this the first time he’s scored regularly at any level? We’re all pleasantly surprised.
-
I think there’s no comparison with Trippier leaving on a free at the tail end of his career. I’m hopeful it’s Howe taking a stand after they were way too soft on Isak last time. It’s like, as soon as you don’t want to be here, you’re out of the team, regardless of quality. He hasn’t done anything “wrong”, which is why he’s on the bench, but Howe is sending a message, 100% commitment to this cause or you’re dropped. I think it’s healthy.
-
I mean he air-shotted through on goal at Arsenal and has that kind of rawness still, so I get it where it comes from. He also had to score against Qarabag and didn’t. But there’s no doubt we’re seeing a quantum leap in his output in the last run of games. It’s pretty exciting if we can swap Wissa for someone half decent.
-
He did well here overall and was a good signing, one that most people were against at the time. I don’t feel much about him leaving. There’s no love, but I don’t really get people hating on him either. He’s out for himself like most footballers, but that’s what makes the likes of Bruno so rare and precious.
-
Delighted for him. Still goes for flicks that aren’t on, and opts to pass almost every time there’s a shot on. If he stays it’s a massive preseason because he does have something for sure
-
Well that all sets us up perfectly for Callum Wilson’s now inevitable winner at St James.
-
The “water carrier” strikes again.
-
I think it looks a bit cooler than the previous pictures. Something a non Newcastle fan might actually wear. Obviously it’s a massive departure but I’ve got no issue with taking a risk. Will reserve final judgement till I see it in person. Reckon if the rebuild goes well it has the potential to be a cult shirt in years to come.
-
It isn’t though, he’s called up cos it’s a friendly against Grenada where almost no senior players will feature.
-
You have to hand it Emery. Finishing a mile ahead of us, whilst singing absolutely no one of note and elevating formerly average players to sky high levels at times. In any one else’s hands that summer window and missing the CL last season was an era defining disaster, but not his.
-
I kind of despair when people take everything Eddie says literally. “Not at the moment…The players are there”. We’ve been told over and over again now, that one of Woltemade or Wissa will go at minimum. That would then free up space for the new striker. He’s not going to fucking announce that at a pre match press conference.
-
Fair play, you’re obviously expecting a great summer window. I find it hard to be that optimistic
-
We do this with all our signings too. No one will bother to bid for a player without knowing they want to come and are within the wage structure.
-
It’s a squad game these days. No one is against an upgrade but Harvey Barnes is the least of our worries right now and to dismiss him as “just a finisher” isn’t right.
-
Incredibly harsh, he’s made a yard on a defender and put in a good ball many times. He also regularly holds off challenges once he’s put in. Of course he’s got his limitations, but he’s been well worth the investment and will continue to contribute next season, no doubt. He’s already been part of sides who “pushed into the top 5” as you put it, not that that seems remotely realistic as a goal right now, even with a blindingly good window in the summer.
-
You’d think today would silence the Twitter incels and fifaheads who drone on about him being mismanaged. he just isn’t suited to the league as many people said before we signed him, sadly. Hopefully we recoup most of the money and he goes on to have a good career back in Germany.
-
Well whoever said Anderson doesn’t contribute to goals proper jinxed that.
-
Still annoyed we didn’t try for Kelleher last summer. So much better than our two and available for a steal. But hey he made a mistake at St. James once, so that’s that.
-
We probably don’t need another forward who can’t finish.
-
I think some of it is our u21s are pretty useless, including the signings. I remember the furore about Kuol but there was no real evidence he was ever going to be good enough. Now if this kind of thing happens with the much more talented younger age groups this argument will have more merit.
