I guess it comes down to whether you believe Rashford to be inherently a “bad egg” or the victim of some really poor management and a few dopes in his entourage. I personally find it hard to believe the guy behind the school meals could be such a terrible person but it doesn’t matter since it’ll never happen.

Joelinton’s transformation is pretty close. Nothing like it in Newcastles history and not much like it anywhere.
-
I have a sneaky suspicion Rashford is exactly the kind of “lost” player Eddie could turn around, but it will never happen due to the costs involved.

Martin Dúbravka (now playing for Burnley)

Yeah he’s obviously better than them at loads of other things too. Perhaps Trafford will be better than Kelleher in time but there’s even less evidence of that. -

Have you seen much of him? I’ll be really surprised if he doesn’t surpass Pope. He’s already leagues ahead of any of our keepers with his feet. -
I think Burn has been better defensively than Schar this season, medium term they both need replacing, but I’d be more than happy if they stick around to deputise Botman and new RCB.

The clamour for Chiesa is indicative of something most fans fall into. It’s all because of an excellent Euros for Italy which was now a very time ago. He’s been a crock basically ever since and nowhere near the same player. There’s still lads on YouTube saying we missed a trick not being in for him! What we need to find is a pre Euros Chiesa, someone about to explode. We’ve done it with Gordon, and Hall. We need to find a RW along those lines.

Nah, it was a miracle. Man Utd are woeful.

Mate, we will see one in one out, IF we’re lucky.

I’m not rewriting it. I’d prefer we sold both and bought Pedro. Wood is tearing it up. Wilson is tearing up. Some re evaluation of decisions is going to take place.
-
Depends entirely on the question. If the question is would it have been better to keep Wood (who never misses a game) or Wilson (who doesn’t play a game) the answer, hindsight or not, is now obvious.

You are right, but people on here and elsewhere would have lost their minds.
-
I’m sure they say the same with Isak and Nunez

Was there ever a serious bid for Almiron? Saudi was never an option for him.
-
He speaks really well. And he was decent tonight and unlucky not to score.
-
Was outside the box no?
-
The hyperbolic language that gets chucked around is the issue for a lot of us. Losing at home to two miracle finishes from Nunez is “disgraceful”, Pope is a “bottom 3 goalkeeper” etc. Like, criticise away, there is much to pour over but the language used at times is reminiscent of a kid rage quitting football manager, and makes a decent discussion impossible.
-
I would have sold Almiron too, but we don’t know a bid was made and again it had nothing to do with tonight.
-
Did you rate Gordon before he came in?
-
Yeah but only by default. He will obviously want to hold onto his squad as it was 1. Small and 2. Performing Being loyal to limited players is part and parcel of building a culture. It’s easy to be utterly ruthless from behind the ol keyboard, but limited player Dan Burn was sorely missed tonight and Almiron has little to do with our poor performances given he doesn’t actually play. Howe was much work to do, that is clear - but he needs more help then he is getting.
