  1. We seem to be doing a lot tactically to get Gordon going, but he’s just not, I don’t like going in two footed on players but he’s having a really bad season
  2. Thought Barnes showed his limitations in the attack prior to that goal
  3. just a real lack of quality on the ball. i still expect a win here, won’t take much to turn it around
  4. The complete lack of a proper 10 really stands out in games like this
  5. Burn is such a miss at set plays, such a small team without him.

In most of those seasons they are ending it 10 odd points of the team who win the league, seems our definition of a title race is pretty different, in 2013/14 they were getting beat 6-0, 6-3 and 5-1, teams who are genuine about winning leagues don't really do that , 2010/11, at no point is this really form of a team winning a league https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010–11_Arsenal_F.C._season I would say it is, it quite easily could have been worse as their entire playing squad feasibly could have been a lot worse, they stay at Highbury and pay massive fees, great, and pay the ever increasing wage bill with what? That as much as anything will, to square this circle be the driver behind us and why we move, the cost of running a high end squad is going to outgrow the stadium and what can be offered at the stadium, those running the club aren't wanting to move for a laugh, it is going to be done from what they perceive as financial logic

If they were involved in as many title races as you seem to think, surely they were competing? I am bit shocked you lost count though as it's honestly not that high a number how often they have been involved in a title race since the spending of the likes of City and Chelsea really started to sink in They made the Champions League Final when they were at Highbury in 2005/06 I can't stress how different football is now to then, it was 20 years ago, it is so removed from now, there was a far greater level of balance in the sport even then, that had a greater driver in where they were, have been and are is the total change in the sport A massive part of why their net spend is what it was is because they were being loaded with massive transfer fees for players by.....Man City. Arsenal have won trophies since they left their stadium which you seem to just be ignoring, had they stayed were they were they feasibly wouldn't have won those

Is it not a slight contradiction to say a manager who didn't need to outspend others actually needed to spend more? Other than 05/06 Arsenal were never really in the hunt for a league title again under Wenger even in seasons when he was able to buy players from teams like, checks notes, Real Madrid and Barcelona, they were still spending well as a club, other teams simply started to spend more, a lot more. A change of stadium improved their business model, what changed was what was going on around them, had they remained as they were they would have only been left further behind It is a false argument to say they didn't win leagues as though it validates them not changing stadium, it doesn't, others moved on in their financial muscle.

The entire landscape of football has massively changed since they left Highbury. The notion they were going to outspend the likes of Chelsea and Man City while staying at Highbury is hilarious, the change of stadium has aided them in staying in the arms race.

Arsenal have won trophies since they moved stadium, the change of stadium did help them in that process

I think there actually is a decent case that a change of stadium would help us specifically when it comes to atmosphere. and I can only speak for us on this. As things stand a lot of groups of mates go to the pub before games, and it is fair chance 1 in 5 can then go in the game, if there is a 2 of the 5 a decent chance they are in different parts of the stadium. If more can be done to get groups like that in together I can see why it would help the atmosphere

I can't believe people think staying at Highbury would have helped Arsenal, staggering to read that, they would be closer to being a Crystal Palace level club by now if they stayed there

I appreciate it might be for some, but a genuine strong emotional attachment to a stadium just isn't for me.

    Marc Guehi

I would say we were in for Guehi thinking that him and Botman would play together at some point, and likely for years given the bid we made for him. I don't think he was being signed as a short term sticking plaster as cover for Botman only

    Marc Guehi

I don't really think Botman being fit or not changes much at all personally, we will still need a CB
  16. I think it is inevitable what happens next, the EPL are going to create rules that are going to have a form of limit on the spending of City and us, I don't see a massive change from that around the corner and never have.
  17. Probably a controversial view but I wouldn’t be at all fussed for us spending the likely fee Gyokeres ends up going for, one worth avoiding for me, it feels like he might flop somewhere else, it is going to end up being a very costly gamble, we can spend our money wiser I think.

    Alexander Isak

I don’t think Calvert Lewin would be “cheap” I would expect if he is moving under freedom of contract he would want a very hefty wage and signing on bonus.

    Marc Guehi

We have been a fan of opportunistic business. I would say Guehi in January is that The issue Palace will have which will hold as much an influence as their want to sell or not is that there is only so many times you can lie to a player, they have patently told him a load of bollocks in the summer about getting a bigger move at a later date and giving them a bit more time so they can kick on bla bla bla, they haven’t done that, that makes him gettable. I cant imagine our opinion will have massively changed on him within a window either more so given he ticks a lot of boxes we like, English, young, can be coached to kick on again, the idea of possibly 3 of England’s 4 often used defenders tied to us for a long time will be pretty appealing I expect.

    Lewis Hall

I think his assessment of himself and midfield is bang on, he probably could play in midfield, and be good at it, but he isn’t just having his career to be good. You only have to look at us as a point of reference for him and midfield. Hall is really good technical football player, but he isn’t as good as Bruno. Hall is a better technical football player than Longstaff, but he isn’t the athlete or build Sean is when it comes to the workhorse role in midfield. I just couldn’t imagine Hall being able to run a game like Sandro did against, Chelsea, and that is only applicable to us before moving into the idea of breaking into the England squad and the competition at that level. What I do think you can look at is him being our and England’s LB for 10 years, and a really excellent one. It is the far more logical career path for him. He also as he’s referred do does on occasion have to step in and likely does more midfield ball work than Longstaff does when Longstaff plays with him.

    Marc Guehi

I would still like us to get him, him and Botman as a CB pair for likely 6 years, box that off and barely have to spend on the defense for a long time, be quite handy.
  23. I had a decent run managed to get Arsenal and City from the ballot. It would be decent to have a better idea to the logic of it, i.e what now happens, if that's me for the season, if I will get through again in a few games etc, be decent if it all had a logic to it
  24. JEToon

    Lewis Hall

He does say he can play in midfield, but he does say a fair bit more than that and I would be inclined to agree with him. “I feel I could play in midfield if the manager wanted me to,” Hall says. “I did in pre-season but as a career I feel I have more ability at left-back then in midfield. The way we play at Newcastle really suits my game. The full-backs are really involved. I get loads of the ball in good areas. I like to get forward, so when I am building from the back and getting into the final third, I like to do that and create chances.”

I don’t expect them to build an 80,000 seat stadium to sell kids tickets, it was to evidence demand v claim. if you’re a group of adults wanting seats together in any area of the stadium, you’re in reality completely screwed
