Really surprised Chelsea or Man Utd aren't knocking about for him this summer.

Aye, that was the point I was trying to make. It's not as if keeping Tonali in over Longstaff would have meant we'd continue to lose against Brentford, Sheff Utd & Burnley. I know he wasn't exactly brilliant in those 3 games but it was a massive baptism of fire to the PL against the 4 teams we had first. I don't even think it was necessarily wrong to not play him, I don't buy this line that results and performances improved because we started playing Longstaff, though. We just weren't playing the previous season's top 6 anymore.

I do think it's a shame these are so far off the ball now. They were genuinely one of the best sources for links up until Ashley and they dried up. Miss the days of seeing the billboards with new target mentioned.

Tonali got the matches against the clubs where we were always likely to get few points, Longstaff came back in for him v Burnley at home (I think?), which was the start of an easy run of games. Pretty sure we could have given Tonali that run of games and the outcome would have been the same.

He's away and their back up Chilwell was only a loan so they'll definitely have a gap whether it's first choice or backup. Would make sense.

Yeah I'm not sure he's the top level striker they need either. Was hoping he'd go to Arsenal.

What's the craic with the Family Enclosure? Is it mainly season ticket holders or individual ones? Surely doesn't need to be as big as it is now the demand is there. Not even sure I'd release more season tickets until the new ground/extension but that could easily open up 2-3k match-by-match tickets?

How much would a 20-22 year old English striker who'd scored 30 in the Championship last season cost? Could probably go 18-19 year old striker as a more appropriate comparison given how keepers tend to be at their peak slightly older. He's pretty much done the goalkeeping equivalent of that, anyway.

£30m for a keeper that age and who will likely be England's number 1 within the next few years seems brilliant value to me mind.

Make them sign Longstaff for £18m or something in return. Can be our Anderson/Vlach moment.

It's a lot easier when PSR isn't as much of an issue, you already have top players who can play their position and can just move on to the next replacement if he flops. We're in a position where our signings have to have hit the ground running and be a success with about 90% of our signings.

I'd sooner not help Villa but seems like there's clearly going to be a group of clubs which we're in, that are going to need to trade with each other just for PSR purposes.

The link-up between Tino and Barnes for about 4-6 weeks was one of the biggest reasons we have a cup win and another top 5 finish.

Surely they speak to the council and give them their plans, location, etc before drawing it all up otherwise it's a waste of time?
