  1. That is exactly what we need to pus in with a good chance of retaining a CL spot. Spurs, Chelsea, Manure, City, Arsenal all likely have a vastly improved season. They all have far more ability to deal with heavy schedules. Uncharacteristically poor performance gave us a head start, our exec level, recruitment and scouting hasn’t capitalised this far. Be lucky if we get a second chance, without direction easy to go the way of spurs
  2. Think we should compare ourselves to those who performed best in terms of asset appreciation, so long as the asset reached a level to be useful to us. Forest, Brighton, Villa, Brentford. Forest and Brighton had their targets ready to go and faced no competition.
  3. This. Thought this was the point of Ashworth/Mitchell, but they get in, I never heard about appointing more scouts so we can have a few in mainland Europe, 1 or 2 in South America… scout the academies, u21s as wel as consistently hitting all the leagues…since Staveleys been ousted seemingly far less direction. Hafta think she sold the club as well to players, she loved the club and the project. The faces I notice now are either self aggrandising snakes or just suits
  4. Ambitions are one thing, reality another. Lets see how this window and next season goes before saying Anderson couldn't regularly feature. Right now he would regularly play. Hope to God we sign more midfielders from abroad, because we need better choices for the 11, and the bench is shocking for a CL team. I'd be surprised if next season it could be said Anderson wouldn't feature.
  5. He's good enough to compete with Joe for gametime now especially in matches where we've needed more on the ball ability. As he improves he'd be an excellent option. The only of our midfielders who were good enough to come in and offer rather than detract, although maybe not at the time so much. Being one of the big guys at Forest has brought him on immensely. It'd be different here than a City/Chelsea.
  6. Difference between when she was here and since is night and day
  7. Anyone see much of Concecaio from Porto, spent last year loaned to Juve, 30mil release clause... left footed, decent on his right, plays on the left, looks good on the right and the middle...bit small, but quality.
  8. For me it’s far more an issue of getting to the final third in the first place. Teams that press us often get joy because of the lack of composure and technical quality in different areas. Even Bruno is liable to start missing 10 yard passes in high tempo games, more so when Longstaff is in the team. Joe’s lack of technical ability hurt us in a few games last season, having the option of an effective, quick technician was sorely missing, what we’d hope Willock would be but isn’t, and at times we could do with it more in a 4321 rather than 433
  9. We know so much more about them in this age, we’ve followed their careers, we know a bit about them through interviews, conduct in the pitch, their journey from youth to pro…think for anyone who had the same dreams of love of football it feels like thats a guy who had the same dreams as me, he made it, had a wife and kids and success, now passed at the most important part of his young life.
  10. Jesus…tragic doesn’t begin to describe it, absolutely horrific. His family is what’s important in this, but on the pitch I always respected him. For a small guy, scored headers, great awareness, positive, always fit into the team wherever asked. I always thought he was seemed a good bloke, maybe because of that. Either way, RIP Diogo Jota
  11. Not quick enough to be a traditional in out threat in the wing I don’t think, be a different type… I think his intelligence and technique mean his lack of stature isn’t a concern the way it might be with others.
  12. Great shout left footed as well, can play off the right, midfield, absolute technical quality. The level we need in the squad. Should definitely try it, although if I’m PSG, there’s not many who can step into that midfield and it stays at about same level, he can.
  13. Hurt to see him break through this year and at the euros, although I think our slow pace hindered him. So much better than our bench options and a better option than Joe in some matches at this stage
  14. We need some versatile players in there. A winger/forward, attacking midfielder/winger, attacking midfielder/forward. Loads of players can play more than 1 position. Christ I'd imagine if we had another good left back Lewis Hall would be a far better shout in midfield than any of our bench. Hopefully Miley comes on, but dont see it without a loan where he makes himself their top midifelder.
  15. Lyon in serious financial trouble, surely they have some worthwhile players from U-21 to senior level
  16. This is what I don't understand. Why would our pool of targets be so small. Our squad is not that good at all. The clubs able to spend won't underachieve forever, we aren't going to keep up by buying 3-4 premiership lads that are 3rd choice on their list and spending 150 mil to do so. There's a massive pool, mid table clubs have been overperforming while making a profit for years by expanding their pool. The lack of signings doesn't worry me so much, the seeming lack of scope and vision does. Calculated risks need to be taken. Aside from the weaknesses in the 11, we need players who can possibly push their way in and upgrade or give different options in our strong positions. It was obvious in so many matches this year and last.
  17. It was a shocking decision last year, we wanted Hjuisen after him being available last summer, instead we begged to massively overpay for Guehi, luckily Palace continued to take the piss all summer. Hopefully we've learned. I wonder how many scouts we've had at the U-21 and CWC championships
  18. Activity really looks like ramping up to a level not seen since Xisco
  19. Highly, highly doubt Frimpong, Cherki's wages match our highest earners, even Reijnders i'd be surprised if it started at much more than 160-180. Our scouting system does not appear to be good enough based on last summer, hoping to Christ we can find some value, because competing in the league paying premiums for Elanga's etc thats hard enough. Europe we are so far behind the quality its staggering. Executive level has been shocking for a while, what the hell was the point of Ashworth and Mitchell, our scouting seems to be the exact same or worse.
  20. Injury history is shocking, type of injuries that become more and more frequent
  21. Looking at that injury history I'd never sign him, unless it was for around 10mil and we weren't going to rely on him. Isn't he strictly left sided as well?
  22. I don’t, we stayed on Guehi when other clubs signed better/near as good centre backs for half price or less. Seems we don’t have near broad enough scouting or place too much weight on whether they’ve played premiership football. Love Eddie but if any aspect of his management is open to question it’s transfers…arguments to be made either way, but modern Bournemouth are spending money far more effectively than Howe Bournemouth
  23. I'd think about the same, maybe less, maybe a bit more. Pace brings price up more than other attributes. Doesn't have the pace to be an all round top class CB. But next to a Van Djik for example, or if VH is your no.1 CB and your 2 is has recovery pace, he certainly has what it takes to be integral to a top defence and a top tier distributor of the ball. Think the takeaway is Brighton, Forest, and Bournemouth have signed 4 center backs for around what we were supposedly willing to pay for Guehi. And everybody knew about Milkenovic, 12mil was a steal. Given Mitchell was there, you'd have hoped we knew of Hjuisen. Either way, Guehi's can be gotten for far less and with coaching great defenders with average pace can be found young.
  24. Best captain since Shearer though, hopefully he comes back aids free and gets his place back, top form Trips is something else
  25. Its a key part of how Europe maintained societal standards and values without the need for tribal type level to level dictatorship style where was had far greater personal autonomy than most cultures. This is how general social standards were kept. Its a pretty big part of being human. Besides DCL's thing is mental, you dont wear that and expect people not to comment. Trip's outfit is like he was dressed by the stylists at Geordie Shore and they went, 'yea he can play 22'
