At least Chelsea look "bad" too. Nobody really knows how hard any club pushed, but this is less of an optics loss than last summer.
-
Never turning a profit on Pope and we don't need to. Can't measure a successful signing on profit alone. His contributions over the years towards money for league positions and CL qualification likely exceed £5m anyway.
-
Need to get it sorted quickly, but a medical is easily arranged regardless. IIRC Gordon had one booked for his abandoned move to Liverpool when he was in the Euros squad. Also, Craig Hope, Jesus Christ. "NEWCASTLE FACE MASSIVE COMPETITION" - from who? Every single headline/report he drops is brimming with "Don't get your hopes up" subtext.
-
Not sure if anybody has shared this already, but this game has completely derailed my working day: https://7a0.com.br/en/play?mode=classico&formation=4-3-3

This is where I'm with Eddie. No loans please (not that I believe we'd go for it).
-
Chelsea's taste in wide forwards was almost as bad as ours last year. Consoling myself with this fact when the inevitable happens.
-
I'm not sure if we've made a specific decision as a club to bypass that cunt as much as possible, but it seems to be the case, and I'm all for it.
-
Can't see him being brought in as back-up in a scenario that would see Pope leave and someone like Trafford come in. This Ewan guy's ceiling and fee is too high to sit on the bench over the next few years.
-
A better keeper could have got us Europe last year in a shit season in which every team had a crap run at one point. The most necessary but least exciting position to upgrade.
-
Really like the look of this Munoz lad. Great feet, aggressive dimension to his play. Also, Waugh wrote that we hope to land "at least one" recruit before the World Cup.
-
Wonder if Gordon will play for Barca on the right should Yamal's injury record not improve. Have a feeling he'll change his tune!
-
I really do think little of myself for checking in on this thread to see if we've missed out on some kid I've never seen play. But I think less of Elanga.
-
At this point, we might as well sell Tonali, get Camara in, and use the surplus cash to fix the right wing problem. Even if we don't get Zadok, we should try for somebody else. Feels like the club gets that too.
-
Scott Wilson reckons we are "actively pursuing" Munoz in the Echo. Mentioned here underneath the bad Zadok news: https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/26166718.newcastle-united-hold-talks-aik-stockholm-winger-zadok-yohanna/
-
Scott Wilson also reckons that Zadok is more likely to opt for Brighton here. More interested in the tidbit that we are "actively pursuing" Victor Munoz. Love the look of him. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/26166718.newcastle-united-hold-talks-aik-stockholm-winger-zadok-yohanna/

Guy who reckons the Player Only Wanted Brighton has this as his pinned tweet. He's either got something right in the past, or has pinned guesswork to make him look legit.
-
I think so, and this is where so many of them tell on themselves - the prices bandied around for Hall being a key example. The laziness is pathetic. They only need to lurk in fan circles for a few minutes to get half a clue.
-
They're not all hits like. Gruda and Kostoulas didn't really come off.
-
Fucking hate him, me. That 'Liverpool Football Club' tweet still winds me up nearly a year later.
-
Happy with that. Don't hate our CB line-up at all in a Europe-less season. On the evidence of the latter part of the season, Thiaw needs to switch on and fight to keep his place. Schar is there for that.
-
If Howe is taking a holiday, he won't be on holiday, if that makes sense. He's a workaholic who has once again publicly challenged the hierarchy to get business done ASAP.
-
I'd love to remember who broke what last summer for this sort of thing. IIRC... Wolte: first broken by Hope Wissa: interest first reported by Hope or even Downie? Ramsey: Ornstein Thiaw: fucked if I can remember who first said we were back in Ramsdale: can't remember Elanga: think this was Edwards regrettably, but a broken clock and all that Only confident on Wolte and Ramsey there

Isak being shite and or crocked for an entire season was the ultimate dream scenario. I enjoyed it, but it was never going to last.
