You mean worse win ratio for a whole season or in the opening 12 matches? Because the season hasn't finished yet.

Statistics - can be used to prove or disprove anything you want. - Discuss Best league start in ages - Discuss Best league start for two years actually. More patter from Allardyce there I'm afraid. I'm all for giving him time btw, I wish he'd just cut down on the bullshit. Comparing win ratios at this stage is utterly meaningless though. In fact, I'd never seen the stat used until Oliver was using it to try and show how well his mate Roeder was doing.

I remain convinced that it was infact Shearer leading the troops when Souness was sacked, and as such these games should not be included in Roeders win/loss ratio! Whether you like it or not, he was the manager though. I don't think it's a particularly meaningful stat in any case having said that.

This proves the bit I have highlighted above perfectly though, which was the point I was making.

Guest alex
Well, it isn't really being pedantic though, is it? If you had an equally good start to the season two years ago, this season is the best start for two years. The point isn't being made to say Allardyce is shit or anything, it's being made to show he's being a bit disingenuous with his statement. He made the bold statement after all. madras
i don't care if he'd won every game except those at sunderland, derby and reading. i'd still blame his decisions for not getting maximum points from those games.
Dave
It was the best start in ten years or something, before the Reading game IIRC. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I think he just rehashed that fact. Obviously now it doesn't make sense.

Skirge
I am more worried that we do not seem any better than we were under Souness and Roeder, our style of play is still shite and stupid mistakes at the back are still costing us.
Keefaz
By the way, Menace's stat is a load of bollocks: Allardyce : Won 42% Roeder : Won 40% Souness: Won 29% I direct you to: http://www.newcastlestats.com/headtohead.asp, which I hear is an awesome site created by a fucking genius. Colos Short and Curlies
Scary that stat about goals scored under Keegan, thought we would have averaged more than 2 a game tbh. Also nice to see that the dodgy Keegan defence conceded less goals per game than any subsequent manager
Liam Liam Liam O
By the way, Menace's stat is a load of bollocks: Brilliant. Of course if you completely make statistics up that opens up all sorts of opportunities for proving things!
