Guest SLK
It is true that Bellamy, Robert and Dyer may share one attribute (hatred by many of you) but I think the three mentioned plus Solano were pivotal players in the years that moved NUFC to realm of champions league and top 4 teams during SBR times...The 4 of them share: 1) Skill 2) Flair 4) Speed (At least Bellamy, Dyer and Robert) 5) Scored and created goals 6) Free kick specialists (In Robert and Solano) 7) AND NOT BEING GRAFTERS Have we replaced since then ? I don't think so and I believe we miss the FOOTBALLING value and attributes they added to the team back then which made the team even more complete with them and LESS complete without them as it is the case now...We currently don't possess such skillful players at the most important positions on the wing and up front...These are the positions that should be filled with skillful, flair and speedy players who can make goals for themselves and others around them... So am I surprised that we have been struggling since these players left one by one and never got replaced with similar footballing valued players ? Not really, NO... All four posessed quality which so far ilooks to be lacking in any of the players brought in as replacements. Also all four could be matchwinners in their own way - something else we're lacking at present.
ChezGiven
Completely agreed but it needs to be said that all four of them had to go for one reason or another.

ChezGiven
Actually Bellamy didnt need to go but Robert was past it and the other two left for personal reasons.
Guest alex
Solano was arguably sold at the right time by Robson. The problem was inadequate replacements.
Guest Ridzuan
I think pace is what we are lacking right now.In the past,we have the likes of as you mention Dyer and Bellamy to help us increase our speed of attack and right now I think we are lacking it especially in the midfield and we have players playing out of position so I cant see any direction when attacking. Yes, pace and creativity.
Willow
Well hopefully in January or in the summer we'll be more reinforced in the creativity department. Sam did amazingly well what was his first transfer window for us on a limited budget at the time, now seeing as the financial structure of the club has been asessed we can afford to be excited by this fast approaching window of opportunity. Apart from Solano, it had always just been flashes of brilliance from these players in the past and no real consistancy was really evident in their time here. Injuries, lack of effort and them generally being greedy crybabies always stifled their progress. So glad we got rid of them and I'm looking forward to learning from these past mistakes. Obviously clubs love to inflate their prices at this time of year but no need to panic if there isn't a cheap Kaka on the market in January, summer will deliver some nice surprises I reckon
Dave
All went at different times and for different reasons. Could add Speed to that list, too.

Without pace as well we look very one dimensional which is why we are struggling for shots nevermind goals as it is easy to defend against
Guest SLK
All went at different times and for different reasons. Could add Speed to that list, too. Solano, Bellamy and Robert didn't really play together when SouMess took over...Solano was sold in the summer before, Bellamy didn't last beyond Christmas, Robert was out of favour with SouMess...Dyer well I think he was injured (must have been anyway ) We certainly as others have also mentioned lack PACE and Skill/flair on the wing and up front...We need those creative fast players, who used to wreck havoc in the opponent defenses and who can crave for free kicks because 80% it going to go in ala Robert/Solano.... Keefaz
Basically, it sounds like we've never replaced quality players with players of the same ability. Which I think is true for the most part.
Chris_R
In all seriousness I'd say that Bellamy was replaced firstly by Owen and then when Owen was crocked long term he was replaced by Martins. To say either lacked pace when they arrived is daft, anyone would have thought (Incorrectly, I know!) that getting shot of Bellamy and bringing Michael Owen in would be a good piece of business. Likewise with Robert. We signed Albert Luque and Damien Duff to replace him. Both are fast, both can hit a shot - Luque especially. Both have failed to make an impact for various reasons but again the intent was there to replace them. As for Dyer, what exactly did he contribute for us in the 10 years he was here? 10 good games, if that? Nothing to replace IMO. And Solano was a slow but technically gifted right winger. Bit like James Milner? OK, I know Milner was here when Nobby was first here but still, do you want ANOTHER slow but skillful right winger as well? Seems like there's not a lot left to replace to me. Already done. Admittedly they've been injured or just not up to it, but the replacements have been brought in. Now even Duff is getting back to fitness (Apparantly), so it's just a case of waiting to see what Sam will do with them. Probably put Duff on at left back, N'Zogbia on at right wing and Milner on at left wing....
Guest alex
If you looked at the Keegan side I doubt many of the players signed since he left would displace any of them. Given and Woodgate but that's about it.

Chris_R
Bellamy was a different prospect to Michael Owen. Totally different players, really. Yeah, one was one of the best centre forwards in the world with lots of pace and a fantastic finisher. The other was Craig Bellamy.
