We've been on top of an extremely in-form Arsenal. One individual error and lack of luck is why we're 0-1 down at HT, not because of Sams tactics. not really 1 individual error, see my post on page 9, all 4 defenders were at fault, it was the 4 together that didfor us. Barton has given the ball away a fair bit, trying to do things that aren't really on. He doesn't have to produce anything dramatic every time he gets possession. I'm enjoying the game. I love the way he links up and plays little passes quickly without dwelling on the ball. If everyone on the team played the ball as quickly we would be a much better team. We should keep Smith upfornt and continue to work with him to get him into dangerous scoring positions a bit more often and maybe he will even start scoring a bit more regularly. johnnypd Posted December 5, 2007 Share Posted December 5, 2007 smith's not been that good. if youre looking for an upfield defender to harras the opposition and go into physical confrontrations heskey-style he's been great, if you want someone who does something with the ball and creates chances for his fellow attackers, not so much. the one excellent thing he did was the flick on that no-one picked up on. as i said earlier, a distinct lack of cutting edge in this side, despite all the admirable huff and puff. it seems like the only way we'll score is capitalising on further argy-bargy, an aerial chance, a mistake or lucky bounce or something.
