Taylor and Beye weighing up futures at United

Jun 22 2009 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

STEVEN TAYLOR'S Newcastle United future is looking ominous due to the farcical situation surrounding the empty manager’s hot seat.

And Senegal defender Habib Beye is also believed to be considering his options, with a clutch of clubs ready to pounce on the 31-year-old.

The Chronicle understands that injured England Under-21 skipper Taylor left the club’s Benton training ground after talks with then manager Alan Shearer over his future, and the outcome of those discussions were positive.

However, just like Shay Given, James Milner, Charles N’Zogbia and want-away defender Sebastian Bassong, Taylor has grown tired of the uncertainty at St James’s Park in recent weeks.

And the defender – – who is contracted until 2011 – is upset that the Magpies have failed to hand Shearer the job.

A United insider told the Chronicle: “Steven sat down with Alan at the end of the season to chat about things, and it was positive despite relegation.

“Steven was basically saying to Alan ‘If you’re staying, I’m staying’.

“Things have changed a bit since then and, with Alan still not being handed the job and pre-season training so close, Steven is going to have a look at his position.

“Obviously he would love to stay and work with Alan, but he is upset by what has been happening in the last few weeks.”

But while Taylor is tied down for two years, United can, just like the Bassong situation, name their price for the Academy product, with Arsenal believed to be monitoring his movements.

West Ham are another side linked with a move for Taylor, but he will wait until the end of the transfer window to see if things have improved.

It’s also understood Beye is growing tired of the situation, with Shearer kicking his heels at home during the summer. Yet Beye’s position is slightly different to Taylor.

The African only has one year left to run on his current deal and wants to sign a new contract to finish his career on Tyneside.

Beye, though, doesn’t want to run into the final year of his current deal facing so much uncertainty.

And with Stoke linked with the ex-Marseille skipper again over the weekend, he isn’t likely to be short of options.

Shearer was intending to use his powers of persuasion to get Taylor, Beye and Bassong to commit their futures and build a team around the defensive trio.

Unfortunately, with owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias leaving the sale of the club in the hands of Seymour Pierce, the ins and outs of the Toon squad this summer seem to have taken a back seat amid the chaos on Barrack Road.

And with England Under-21 star Fraizer Campbell also due to make a decision on where he signs at the end of the European Championships in Sweden, Newcastle could well miss out on another player who would surely give them a great chance of promotion at the first time of asking.

Meanwhile, reports coming out of Holland today suggested that United have a friendly with Utrecht lined up.

The Dutch side could take on the Magpies on July 25 or 26, with July 11 already penned in by Shamrock Rovers on the Irish side’s official website.

As if he cares what they have to say.

Every fucker imaginable has come out since the end of the season and said Shearer should be appointed ASAP and the club should be sold ASAP etc etc.

Maybe it is just the Chronicle trying to put more pressure on Ashley to make a decision about Shearer.

With a sale looming Ashley is not going to do it, he could and should say to Al come and do the job until the sale is done.

now now boys and girls. i know she's came on been a bit of a knacker but posting pics of what could be her without her consent is bang out of order imo.

get them removed and we may make a decent "other club" poster out of her once she realises what we are about.

Blatantly they say that if you post them on Facebook, anyone is entitled to take them and use for what they might please as you give up ownership rights.
