Guest LucaAltieri
Oh bloody hell. It’s a good few years now but seems our fans still haven’t grasped this whole notion of a being a mid-table team. There are no teams we should be expecting a result against. Particularly when playing a team like Wigan, who have been good (bar one match) under the new manager, especially when we’re away from home. Welcome to mid-table mediocrity chaps. Get used to it for the next couple of years. No amount of regime change is going to alter it.

Surely its not being arrogant to expect to beat Derby at home... or even at worst not concede a goal against them. Billionaire owner, half decent team, and decent manager, we should be knocking on Europe's door by this time next year, no problem. You could forgive a few for hoping it could even be this year, we should be at least competitive.

Sad thing is mate we could be EASILY lower than we are, we've picked up 7 points in the last 3 games previous to Wigan that could easily have been just 1 or 2. That would leave us about behind Reading, with Spurs and Bolton who seem to be improving breathing down are necks... With Chelsea, Citeh, Man Utd and Arsenal to play before we get to Feb. Dragon55544
He never mentioned Derby to be fair. He said there is no team we should expect a result against. IMO we should be expecting to beat the relegation candidates even if we are a mid table team. Having 1 shot on target in 90 mins against Wigan is fucking unacceptable. There's a fine balance between patience and ambition, neither you or me decides where that line is, what I feel is correct cannot surely be seen as ridiculous or absurd surely considering even Roeder achieved that mark with a shit and crippled team, wanker of an owner and him being a overall crap manager. Dave
Billionaire owner Hate to go all NE5 on you but that's been pushed by loads of people so far as a reason why we should be doing better, when in reality we have no idea what his intentions are in terms of bringing in players. I bet even Derby fans couldnt believe what was happening in that match On paper, perhaps not... but my guess is the "team that's bottom at Christmas..." statistics have motivated Derby a bit lately. They should have had a well-earned point against Liverpool the other day, too. They're on a mini purple-patch. But even then, that's irrelevant. It’s what being mid-table is all about. We get a few good results against teams about our standard or better (see Arsenal, Bolton, West Ham, Spurs, Everton) then it’s balanced out be losing to teams we would like a result against (see Derby… twice). Come the end of the season we’re going to be roughly where we deserve to be.

Expecting to win any game is probably half the reason these shit teams seem to always catch us cold. I honestly believe it filters down onto the pitch, or is there anyway. Then we will have to look to build on it over the summer. I can't see us being consistant at all this season, and I think thats not a surprise considering the state of the club at the end of last season.
